Tapas are a variety of small savory Spanish dishes, often served as a snack with drinks, or with other tapas as a meal. Although tapas menu ideas originated in rural Spanish Tavernas, many countries especially Mediterranean have their own equivalent of tiny starter-size dishes: hors d'oeuvres in France, antipasto in Italy, meze in Greece and Middle east, and dim sum in China. Unlike their cousins

around the world, tapas are more than just finger foods and appetizers. Tapas is not a particular type of food, but rather a way of eating it. Tapas dining is best defined as the tradition of enjoying small portions of different appetizers and finger foods. In addition, tapas are neither starters nor a main course… it's a collection of small plate dishes that have as much focus on the food as the ambiance. To “tapear”, going from bar to bar for drinks and tapas, is an essential part of the social culture in many country, especially in Spain, and is something that everyone should experience. Because tapas are informal, and the bars are often busy, they are commonly eaten standing up at the bar or at high tables, and the atmosphere is convivial and noisy. Most of the Tapas are made from typical mediterranean ingredients, especially olive oil, garlic, fish, seafood, and free range pork.. Although beef and chiken are also popular, the most common meat is pork, as used for jamón Ibérico. There is also a wide selection of cheeses, and it is usually made from sheep and goat’s milk, or a blend of the two. Salads are usually simple dishes of tomatos, onions, cucumbers, bell pepers and eggplants and are found in small tapas sizes. Ladies and gentlemen after almost 4 years in Yangon being a part of a thriving food and beverage scene, we unfortunately have to shut own our operations to focus on our sister venue and other businesses. It has been an amazing time serving you tapas and bringing you joy and good times since 2014. But we are not gone forever, We will have pop up events at The Penthouse with tapas so stay tuned. Once again, thank you all for being a part of this amazing adventure and experience.
