DI joined a CSO Network of 30+ CSOs participating in the EU-funded “Twin Transition” Project, implemented by “People in Need” international NGO to strengthen CSO capacity.

We contributed to developing the “CSOs Position Paper”, coordinated by Breathe Air NGO, and to its consultation and endorsement through the “Green Gold” and “Billion Trees”.

The Network submitted its collective recommendations for consideration in Mongolia’s proposed “Steppe Action Agenda” at UNCCD COP17. The CSO Position Paper was presented to the President of COP17, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, as well as to the Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change and the EU Ambassador. The Position Paper was also discussed during the Open Dialogue with Civil Society Organizations at COP17.

We contributed to an interview with MGL Radio, shared our perspectives through a reel on Meaningful Participation, and organized an event in the Green Zone together with Network members, and international and national partners. In the Blue Zone, having obtained accreditation, we invited four guests and participated in a number of meetings, discussions, presentations and exchanges.

Across discussions, a common message was the importance of ensuring that efforts to protect the environment, promote sustainable economic development and address social impacts are people-centered, inclusive, equitable and grounded in meaningful participation. The importance of respecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, strengthening the meaningful participation of affected communities, and bringing traditional and local knowledge together with scientific knowledge, innovation and evidence-based solutions was repeatedly emphasized. The discussions also reinforced the need for sustainable financing to reach the communities, local organizations and other actors working on the ground. Restoring Land, Restoring Hope - putting people, communities and nature at the heart of action for resilient lands and a sustainable future.
