Nonfarm Payrolls hits the calendar this Friday 🇺🇸

Everyone watches the headline number, but NFP day is never just about one print. Alongside payrolls, keep an eye on:

💼 Payrolls — job creation strengthening or slowing?
👥 Unemployment Rate — is the labor market cooling?
💰 Average Hourly Earnings — are wage pressures rising?
🔄 Revisions — did previous numbers get revised?

Nike, the brand that told the world to "Just Do It," is having its toughest run in more than a decade. 📉

The sportswear giant left the S&P 100 on September 21, ending 18 years in the index of America's top companies. This week's results added more pressure.

Q1 FY2027 at a glance:
🔹 Revenue of $11.2 billion, down 4% from last year and short of the $11.3 billion analysts expected
🔹 Nike Direct sales down 8% to $4.1 billion
🔹 Wholesale down 1% to $6.8 billion
🔹 Greater China down 22%, its weakest region again
🔹 Full-year revenue now expected to fall by a high-single-digit percentage

Shares fell about 4% after the results, to roughly $33.80. That's their lowest level since 2013, and more than 75% below the 2021 peak of $179.

There were some positives. Earnings per share of $0.48 beat expectations, and gross margin rose 0.6 percentage points to 42.8%. CEO Elliott Hill says the brand's renewed focus on performance products is starting to work. He also introduced "Pace," a new program to speed up the turnaround.

The challenges are still large: tough competition from Anta, Li Ning, Hoka and On, a slow recovery in China, and a turnaround that is taking longer than expected.

Earnings, outlook changes, and index moves can all drive big price swings.
