Providing guide dogs for the visually impaired in Malta 🇲🇹
Supporting blind & low-vision independence.

A summer catch-up that turned into so much more. 🐾

Great to reconnect, align on the vision ahead, and celebrate how far we’ve come! Now we’re gearing up for what matters most: helping the next person in Malta experience the freedom and independence a guide dog brings.

The journey continues. ❤️

Obstacle avoidance 🐾

It looks simple, but it’s one of the most complex skills a guide dog learns.
Think about your last walk. The lamppost you ducked under without noticing. The curb you stepped down without looking. The parked car you sidestepped on autopilot. Now imagine doing it all in the dark.

That’s Leone’s world, except now, he has Cava. She sees every obstacle for him. She measures every gap. She slows when the path narrows, stops when it’s unsafe, and guides him around things he’ll never even know were there.
Every safe step is a small miracle of training, trust, and teamwork. A partnership built on a thousand quiet decisions Cava makes every single day.

This is what your support built 🤍

🐾 Norway, here we come.
Thanks to your incredible generosity, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve hit our goal! 🥳 And now the real adventure begins. Our team is packing their bags and preparing to make the journey to Norway to meet Cava for the very first time. 🇳🇴
This trip is everything. It’s where Cava and our story truly starts. Where a bond that will change a life forever begins to form. Meanwhile, Cava… 🐾
While we’re busy booking flights, Cava is busy doing what she does best. Watch her nail her obstacle training routine like the superstar she is because she’s not just preparing for Norway. She’s preparing for us. 🖤 We can’t wait to share every moment of this journey with you. Stay tuned. 🤍

We get it.
The terms “service dog” and “guide dog” are often used interchangeably.

It’s not intentional. It’s just not widely explained.

But here’s the important part 👇

Guide dogs are a very specific type of service dog, trained exclusively for people who are blind or visually impaired. They aren’t general assistance dogs. They are professional mobility partners.

They navigate traffic.
They avoid overhead obstacles.
They stop at danger.
They even disobey a command if it means protecting their handler.

That level of skill takes 18–24+ months of structured training, professional instructors, real urban exposure, and tens of thousands of euros. Not every dog qualifies. Only a small percentage of qualified dogs even made it to graduation!

And when they do, it becomes a 50–50 partnership built on total trust with their handler. Pretty magical bond!

Understanding the difference isn’t about labels.
It’s about protecting standards.
Because those standards protect independence, safety, and lives.

If you’ve ever been unsure about the difference, you’re not alone.
Now you know ❤️
