🇲🇹 DID YOU KNOW? 🤔

80 years ago today, on Sunday, 22 September 1946, the Mosta Rotunda witnessed an important national event.

After Archbishop Michael Gonzi celebrated Holy Mass, Maltese Catholics signed a national petition on the definition of the Dogma of the Assumption.

The Archbishop himself was to present the petition to Pope Pius XII.

That morning, the Rotunda was filled with Catholics united in faith and devotion, expressing their desire to see the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary proclaimed as a Dogma of Faith.

✨ Four years later, on 1 November 1950, Pope Pius XII solemnly proclaimed the Dogma of the Assumption.

A historic moment for the Mosta Rotunda and a beautiful testament to the Maltese people's deep Marian devotion. 🙏🏻🇲🇹

The Mosta Rotunda Foundation is currently seeking suitable candidates to fill two full-time positions:
Domestic Assistant
General Assistant
Both positions offer an opportunity to join the team and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operations of the Mosta Rotunda and its Visitors Centre.

Full-time vacancy - GENERAL ASSISTANT
Location: The Dome Visitors Centre / Mosta Rotunda
We are currently looking for a General Assistant to join our team and support the smooth day-to-day operations of the Mosta Rotunda, our visitor centre and retail areas.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Support day-to-day operations in the assigned area.
Assist visitors and customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Process customer payments at the checkout/till using the shop’s Point of Sale (POS) system.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
Support colleagues with general operational duties as required.
Fluency in both Maltese and English will be considered an advantage.

Full-time vacancy - DOMESTIC
Location: The Dome Visitors Centre / Mosta Rotunda
The Domestic employee is expected to work as part of a team to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene, whilst ensuring a welcoming environment at all times.

Today, Malta celebrates the Nativity of Our Lady, a feast cherished by generations of Maltese families.

Looking at this 20th-century photograph of the Mosta Rotunda, we are reminded that while times change, faith and devotion endure. ⛪️

Generations before us gathered in these same surroundings, carrying their traditions, prayers, and love of Our Lady forward — a heritage that continues to live on today.

On this special feast day, we celebrate not only the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, but also the faith that connects generations of our community.

🎶 Programm ta' mużika bl-arpa u l-vjolinċell fuq il-portiku tal-Bażilika mill-arpista Jacob Portelli u l-vjolinċellista Frank Camilleri żiedet atmosfera sabiħa s-Sibt filgħaxija.

👣 Fuq kollox, kien ta’ pjaċir kbir għalina li nilqgħu tant viżitaturi li ħadu l-ħin biex jesploraw il-Kripta u l-Mużew u jaqsmu magħna dan il-mument speċjali.

🇬🇧 Moments from the Exclusive Preview Open Weekend of the Mosta Basilica Crypt Experience & New Museum, ahead of the official opening ✨

During these two special days, visitors had the opportunity to explore these new spaces, discover their stories, and get a glimpse of the work that has taken place behind the scenes.

🎟️ The special guided tours with Dr Sandro Debono and Glorianne Mizzi offered fascinating insights into the Museum project and the Crypt Experience.

🎶 A special harp and cello music programme on the Basilica portico, performed by harpist Jacob Portelli and cellist Frank Camilleri, added a beautiful atmosphere to Saturday evening.

👣 Above all, it was a great pleasure for us to welcome so many visitors who took the time to explore the Crypt and Museum and share this special moment with us.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, our guides, staff, musicians, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to making these projects a reality.
