🐢 A triste realidade do lixo em nossos mares: um alerta urgente para Angra dos Reis! 🌊 As imagens que compartilhamos hoje não são fáceis de ver, mas são um retrato fiel do impacto da poluição marinha em nosso território. Vemos tartarugas marinhas, animais tão simbólicos de nossa costa, sofrendo deformidades severas e ferimentos profundos. O que causou isso? Resíduos plásticos. Como mostram as fotos, objetos comuns como anéis, cintas de embalagens ou pedaços de redes de pesca descartados incorretamente tornam-se armadilhas mortais. Esses materiais se prendem aos animais enquanto eles nadam, se alimentam ou migram pelas águas de Angra. O enredamento é doloroso e fatal. Ele impede que a tartaruga suba para respirar (levando ao afogamento), dificulta a natação e a busca por comida, causando mutilações graves e infecções. 😢 Estima-se que, globalmente, pelo menos 1000 tartarugas marinhas morrem todos os anos devido ao emaranhamento em plástico. Esse é um problema real e está acontecendo “no nosso quintal”. 🗑️ O que podemos fazer? A mudança começa com cada um de nós. 1. Descarte corretamente: Nunca jogue lixo nas ruas, praias ou rios. Em Angra dos Reis, a coleta seletiva e a coleta de lixo são essenciais. Use-as. 2. Reduza o uso de plásticos: Prefira produtos reutilizáveis. Sacolas, copos e talheres descartáveis são grandes vilões. 3. Denuncie: Se vir alguém descartando lixo de forma irregular, denuncie aos órgãos competentes. A educação ambiental territorial é fundamental para criarmos uma consciência coletiva. Proteger nossas tartarugas é proteger a biodiversidade do nosso litoral. Vamos fazer a nossa parte e garantir um futuro mais limpo e seguro para a vida marinha de Angra dos Reis. ♻️ Pense nisso antes de descartar. Fuvahmulah is called Shark Island for good reason. “Basically, the Maldives is the Galapagos of the Indian Ocean,” says marine conservationist Arzakan ‘Zuzu’ Askin, who has helped set up an NGO, the Miyaru Programme, dedicated in part to studying the island’s tiger shark population. “The Maldives is home to over 30 shark species many of which are classified as critically endangered or vulnerable or endangered by the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) Red List,” she adds.

Parrotfish are vital, brightly colored reef guardians in the Maldives that graze on algae, protect coral health, and produce fine white sand. They are strictly protected by law, making it illegal to catch or harm them.
