Developing a roadmap for Southern Africa

29/09/2026

The first episode of the Equip Podcast is now live.

We are starting with a question many people have faced: What would scare you from starting a business?

Starting a business sounds simple. But between the idea and actually getting started, there are questions, doubts, decisions and a lot of things no one really talks about.

In Episode 01, Rollins Chitika opens up the conversation about starting a business in Malawi, why these conversations matter, and what we can learn by talking more openly about the realities of building.

What could AI and digital technology change in poultry farming?
In our last webinar, we explored opportunities for young people across the poultry value chain. Now, we’re taking the conversation a step further.

Led by SACAU, in partnership with Equip and the Southern African Poultry Initiative (SAPI), our next webinar will explore how AI and digital tools are used in poultry, from bird health and biosecurity to climate control, feed formulation, sales, and distribution.

If you are a farmer, young entrepreneur, poultry professional, or interested in where the sector is heading, join the conversation.

When is the right time to start a business?

It’s a question many people ask, but the answer isn’t always straightforward.

What do you think?

We often talk about capital when we talk about starting a business.

But money is only part of the picture.

A World Bank analysis found that 45% of MSME owners surveyed in Malawi were financially illiterate, with many learning business skills through trial and error.

Knowing how to price, keep records, understand your numbers, find customers and make decisions matters too.

Starting is more than finding money.
