Spatial Girls Network, Malawi Flying Labs and Malawi Red Cross Society has organized a Drone Flying Training in partnership with OpenStreetMap Malawi and LUANAR YouthMappers.

The training aims to introduce the participants to Introduction to drones and deliver a hands-on training in drone operations and aerial data collection. We are excited to train youths in mapping skills and empower them to solve climate, environmental issues using these technologies. ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธโœจ

This September, Spatial Girls Network is joining the YouthMappers Monthly Check-Up for an exciting hands-on session focused on MapRoulette!

MapRoulette is a powerful tool that helps the mapping community work on specific tasks and contribute to improving the quality of OpenStreetMap data. This session will provide an opportunity for OSM contributors and mapping enthusiasts to learn how to use the platform and strengthen their practical mapping skills.

The session will be facilitated by Kingsley Chika Chukwu & it has been organized by Calvin Amevienku the Community Engagement Manager for Africa & Middle East at TomTom.

We are excited to share that Spatial Girls Network has been awarded a small grant by Openstreetmap Malawi to conduct a research study titled: "Assessing Gender-Disaggregated Enablers and Barriers to Participation in OpenStreetMap (OSM) and GIS in Malawi.โ€

We therefore invite individuals based in Malawi who have educational background and experience in GIS and OpenStreetMap (OSM) to participate in this study.

Your participation will help us better understand the factors that enable or hinder participation of men and women in GIS and OpenStreetMap, generating evidence to support more inclusive geospatial communities in Malawi.
