A fake job offer can become a trafficking trap.

Criminal networks lure people with promises of legitimate work. Instead, many are trafficked into scam operations, where they are stripped of their freedom and forced to carry out online fraud under threats, violence, debt and fear.

Preventing this crime requires stronger oversight of recruitment agencies, safe labour migration pathways and greater awareness of deceptive recruitment practices.

This World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, let’s shine light on the many human trafficking victims trapped behind scams.

Human trafficking victims forced into online fraud are not criminals.

Embedding the non-punishment principle in law helps ensure victims are not prosecuted for crimes they were forced to commit.

Survivors deserve rescue, rehabilitation & justice.

Behind most scams is a criminal network.

Behind some scam messages is a trafficking victim.

We need to dismantle the criminal networks that profit from this human suffering.
