Kukulkaan Tsay Paach es la tercera pista de Omid, un álbum de 2018 en el que Dubus buscó replicar el sonido de una banda en vivo procesando muestras de bombo 808, Linn Drum y piano eléctrico DX7 a través de las cajas de ritmos MPC 2500 y MPC 1000. Producida al final de una residencia de tres años en la Ciudad de México e inspirada en el misticismo maya (el título se traduce como “el dios serpiente emplumada te busca"), esta pieza en particular presenta una melodía principal en tres capas de Dubreq Stylophone S-1, una en voz de bajo y las otras en voz clásica así como una voz de sintetizador con vibrato y a través de un Boss Giga Delay.

Jennifer ‘Dub’ y Carlos ‘Bus’ han estado produciendo música como Dubus desde 2001, ofreciendo actuaciones en directo con músicos invitados, sesiones de DJ y un set audiovisual interactivo sincronizado basado en cajas de ritmos que les ha brindado cierta notoriedad a nivel local y nacional. Dubus posee un estilo único de reggae dub que abarca desde la electrónica, el drum and bass y el hip hop hasta las raíces del reggae ambientado con melodías ancestrales. Sus trabajos más recientes incluyen una serie de sencillos con cantantes consagrados como Ranking Joe, Joseph Cotton, Dignitary Stylish y General Jah Mikey, entre otros, mezclados por el legendario productor jamaiquino Scientist.

Basándose en imágenes capturadas por Jennifer en su ciudad de origen Playas de Tijuana, el artista interdisciplinario VJ Avant creó una versión dub visual de Kukulkaan. Burle ‘VJ Avant’ fue co-creador de AMP de MTV, un programa dirigido al público de la música electrónica y los raves; emitido de 1996 a 2001, AMP fue responsable de dar a conocer a muchos artistas de música electrónica a una gran audiencia. Visionario en la modificación técnica de dispositivos electrónicos, Burle Avant ha colaborado con artistas destacados como Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, Dubblestandart y el mismísimo Prince entre muchos otros.



Kukulkaan Tsay Paach is the 3rd track of 2018’s Omid, an album where Dubus aimed at replicating a live band sound by running 808 bass drum, Linn Drum and DX7 electric piano samples through the MPC 2500 and MPC 1000 drum machines. Produced at the end of a 3 year residency in Mexico City and inspired by Mayan mysticism (title translates as feathered serpent god seeks you) this particular peace features a three layered Dubreq Stylophone S-1 lead melody, a bass voice, and both vibrato classic voice and synth voice with vibrato through a Boss Giga Delay.

Jennifer ‘Dub’ and Carlos ‘Bus’ have been producing music as Dubus since 2001, performing live with guest players of instruments, DJ sets and a drum machine based synchronized responsive audiovisual live set that gained them some notoriety locally and nationally. Dubus has a unique style of reggae dub that spans from electronica, drum and bass, hip hop to the roots of reggae showcasing ancient melodies; their latest works include a series of singles featuring foundation singers such as Ranking Joe, Joseph Cotton, Dignitary Stylish and General Jah Mikey among others mixed by legendary jamaican producer Scientist.

Based on images captured by Jennifer in their hometown of Playas de Tijuana, interdisciplinary artist VJ Avant created a visual dub version of Kukulkaan. Burle ‘VJ Avant’ was the co-creator of MTV’s AMP, a show aimed at the electronic music and rave crowd; aired from 1996 to 2001, AMP was responsible for exposing many electronica acts to the mainstream. A visionary in electronics technical modification, Burle Avant has collaborated with outstanding artists such as Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, Dubblestandart and the one and only Prince among many others .
