What does victory really mean in tourism?

For many of us, success is measured by arrival numbers, hotel occupancy, or tourism receipts.

But while reflecting on Surah An-Nasr, I was reminded of a different perspective.

When Allah speaks of victory, the response is not pride. It is gratitude, humility, and continuous self-improvement.

As Malaysia prepares to welcome more international visitors, perhaps we should ask ourselves a different question.

Are we simply attracting more tourists, or are we serving them better?

True success in inbound tourism is not only about growing visitor numbers. It is about creating meaningful experiences, treating every guest with sincerity, supporting local communities, and protecting the destinations entrusted to us.

The greatest destinations are not remembered because they attracted the most visitors.

They are remembered because they made visitors feel welcome, respected, and inspired to return.

That is the kind of tourism industry I hope we continue to build.

“Victory is not measured by how many tourists arrive. Victory is measured by how well we serve them, how grateful we remain, and how responsibly we protect our destinations for future generations.”

Let’s build an industry where success is measured not only by economic growth, but also by service, stewardship, and gratitude.

Why isn’t AI recommending your tourism business?

Many tourism businesses think having a page, TikTok account, and WhatsApp is enough.

It’s not.

AI recommends businesses it understands.

That means answering travellers’ questions, creating useful content, and clearly explaining your experiences.

The businesses that educate today will be the businesses AI recommends tomorrow.

There are places you can book anytime.
And there are places you must plan ahead.

Blue Ring Reef falls into the second category —
remote, limited access, and intentionally kept small.

If Malaysia is on your travel list,
this is one experience you don’t want to discover too late.

What Malaysia Can Learn from The White Lotus Tourists

Ever noticed something about The White Lotus?

• Season 1 (Hawaii) = 7 days.

• Season 2 (Sicily) = 7 days.

• Season 3 (Koh Samui) = again, a week-long luxury stay.

Why 7 days?

Because that’s the sweet spot for premium travelers. It’s long enough for:

✔️ Resort luxury

✔️ Excursions + culture

✔️ Shopping + dining

✔️ A bit of “drama” (because hey, it’s HBO 😉)

Now here’s the important data :

• In Thailand, the average tourist already stays ~9 days.

• In Malaysia, it’s only ~2–3 nights.

That’s the gap…. BIG GAP , guys !!

That’s why Malaysia’s ARPT (Average Revenue Per Tourist) lags behind.

👉 If Malaysia wants to play in the “White Lotus league,” we must design packages that keep tourists 7–9 days minimum, with premium experiences stacked across the week.

That’s exactly what we’ll be working on in Hijrah Your Inbound (RM35).

• How to escape the low-price trap.

• How to design premium experiences tourists happily pay for.

• And how to increase ARPT without begging for more arrivals.
