🔥LINDUNG 24 for Local Employees Becomes Voluntary, Remains Mandatory for Foreign Workers🔥

The Government has decided that the LINDUNG 24 Jam scheme will no longer be mandatory for local employees and will instead be offered on a voluntary basis with immediate effect. However, the scheme remains compulsory for foreign workers under the existing legal framework. PERKESO will announce the implementation mechanism for voluntary participation in due course, while continuing to encourage workers to enrol in the scheme, as it provides protection against non-work-related accidents occurring outside working hours.

The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) will review the scheme by the end of the year, including its objectives, effectiveness, and financial sustainability. If necessary, the findings may lead to proposed amendments to the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4). In the meantime, PERKESO will continue its awareness efforts to ensure that the public understands the benefits of the scheme and can make informed decisions regarding participation.

LINDUNG 24 for Local Employees Becomes Voluntary, Remains Mandatory for Foreign Workers

The Cabinet has decided that contributions to the LINDUNG 24 Non-Workplace Accident Scheme under PERKESO will no longer be mandatory for local employees. Instead, participation will be voluntary with immediate effect, following consideration of public feedback. Local employees will be free to decide whether to participate based on their own needs and circumstances. PERKESO will announce the implementation mechanism and enrolment process for voluntary participation in the near future. However, LINDUNG 24 will continue to remain compulsory for foreign workers in accordance with existing laws.

Although participation is now voluntary for local employees, PERKESO emphasised that the scheme remains an important social protection initiative, providing coverage for accidents occurring outside working hours and outside the workplace, including during daily activities. PERKESO reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the welfare and social security of Malaysia’s workforce.

The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) will review the implementation of the scheme by the end of the year, including its policy objectives, effectiveness and financial sustainability, to ensure that it remains viable and beneficial to the public. If necessary, the findings of the review will be tabled in Parliament together with proposed amendments to the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4). Meanwhile, PERKESO will continue to strengthen public awareness efforts and provide clear information on the benefits of the scheme to help Malaysians make informed decisions regarding participation.

🔥Starting August 1, 2026, all e-invoice taxpayers using the e-invoice API must validate both buyer's Tax ID (TIN) and Business Registration Number (BRN) match HASIL's records. The BRN must be in the new 12-digit format. Sellers need to get the correct BRN from buyers before issuing invoices. You can update your BRN online via MyTax Portal, a feedback form, or email. This helps reduce mistakes in the e-invoicing system.

🔥从 2026年8月1日起，马来西亚所有使用API 电子发票系统必须须核对买家的税务识别号码（TIN）和商业登记号码（BRN）是否与 HASIL 的记录一致。BRN 必须是新的12位数字格式。卖家在开票前需要向买家获取正确的 BRN。您可以通过 MyTax Portal、反馈表格或电邮更新 BRN。这有助于减少电子发票系统中的错误。
