The Blind Spot Monitor is part of the vehicle’s advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), designed to help improve safety during lane changes by detecting vehicles approaching from the rear side areas that are not easily visible in the side mirrors. When a vehicle enters the blind spot zone, the system alerts the driver through indicator warnings on the side mirrors.

Calibration is a critical process after repairs or any work involving the rear bumper, side mirrors, wheel alignment, suspension, or sensor removal. Even small changes in sensor angle or vehicle height can affect detection accuracy. During calibration, the system is adjusted and aligned according to manufacturer specifications to ensure precise detection range, correct warning timing, and reliable performance on the road.

Proper calibration helps ensure the system responds accurately in real driving conditions, supporting safer lane changes and reducing the risk of side-impact collisions.

This process is part of the vehicle’s advanced driver assistance system, designed to support safer driving by helping detect potential frontal collisions and assisting in emergency braking situations. Calibration is required whenever components like the front bumper, radar sensor, windshield, or forward-facing camera are removed, replaced, or even slightly adjusted.

Issue found:
Toyota Vios NSP151 displays “LANE DEPARTURE ALERT MALFUNCTION” on the meter.

Diagnosis result:
Diagnostic scan shows DTC C1AA9 – Front Camera Module Beam Axis Not Adjusted.

Inspection & explanation:
The front camera module beam axis is out of specification or not calibrated correctly. As a result, the Lane Departure Alert system cannot determine lane markings accurately, triggering the
malfunction warning.

Solution:
Calibration was carried out according to specification.

The front camera beam axis was successfully calibrated, DTC C1AA9 was cleared, and the Lane Departure Alert system returned to normal operation.

Diagnosis result:
Diagnostic scan shows DTC B241A – Rear Height Control Sensor.

Inspection finding:
Upon checking, one of the wires connected to the rear height leveling sensor is broken, causing incorrect height signal to the headlight control system.

Conclusion:
Due to the broken wiring at the rear height sensor, the auto headlight leveling system cannot operate normally, triggering the warning message.
