Miniature base for SALCRA Oil Palm Supply Chain miniature model

Fig 1: Finished river on the base

Fig 2: The base is filled up around the rocks with a bit of sawdust to cover up holes

Figs. 3 - 4: Filled the river with AK Still Water (Acrylise based clear solvent to replicate puddles/water) & waited for 24 hours to dry

Figs. 5 - 8: Filled up another 2 layers of clear epoxy resin with a bit of turquoise tint to it & interval of 24 hours before adding up another layer

Figs. 9 - 11: The last layer of epoxy resin before trimming off the residue

Figs. 12 - 20: The overall look of the river after applying some clear water effects to create ripples of the river

Miniature base for SALCRA Oil Palm Supply Chain

Figs. 3 - 5: Adding some rocks to the river using Lightweight Hydrocal Plaster & rock moulding silicon from Woodland Scenics. Added Mold A Scene Plaster from Woodland Scenics to cover up the river & painted it with acrylic paint

Figs. 6 - 9: Painted the base with Gaianotes oxide patina (Hull Red) colour over the base & dry brush it acrylic AK Interactive soil & flesh colour to the base. We've also dry fit the oil palm trees to see the overall look

Figs. 10 - 12: Applied 2mm, 4mm & a bit of 7mm static grass using Static King from Woodland Scenics. We're using various shades of green

Figs. 13 - 20: The overall look of the base after the static grass is applied. We've also added some fine turf near the grass to give it a realistic & realism look to the grass by using different shades of green. We're also using the turf from Woodland Scenics

Verdict: Now, the base of the model looked more alive than before. Pretty satisfied with the outcome result. Can't wait for the next one!

DONE with the baby oil palm trees for SALCRA Oil Supply Chain Model

Figs. 2 - 3: Repaint the fronds with green (Gaianotes) paint but the green are slightly off

Figs. 4 - 6: Applied some green wash using Athonian Camoshade from Citadel to tone down the green colour

Figs. 7 - 9: Painted the base of the flower with black (Gaianotes) paint

Figs. 10 - 13: Painted one last detail which is the soil with brown (Mr. Hobby) paint & brown wash using Agrax Earthshade from Citadel to tone down the solid colour

Figs. 14 -16: Topcoat it with Flat Clear (Gaianotes) paint to seal off the overall look of the baby oil palm tree & Voila! I can call it done!

Verdic: Repetitive process but It was fun to paint these tiny oil palm trees. Thanks to my Daiso's magnifying sunglasses for easing my painting process of the small details, creeks & crevices out of the mini trees!

Updates for SALCRA Oil Palm Supply Chain model

Figs. 1: Overall look of the model base

Figs. 2 - 4: Dry fitting the palm trees accordingly & tagging all of them with numbers so we know the placement of the individual tree

Figs 5 - 7: Filling in all sides of the base with wood filler & sanded down to remove all the residues & flattened the sides surface

Figs 8 - 10: Painted the sides with black (Gaianotes paint & of course primed the plywood with multi primer for the first layer so that the paint stick better

In a way, the model will look more interesting to look at with all black sides.

Figs. 1 - 4: Creating a river instead of a pond & the pond will be removed.

Figs. 5 - 6: Adding more gravel to the base.

Figs. 7 - 8: Created a more strong base to avoid warping of the plywood overtime since we're using 18mm plywood as base + ×2 5mm poly foamboard.

Figs. 9 - 11: Checking for any errors that need to be fixed.

Figs. 12 - 15: Filling in the gaps with wood filler.
