Scala Cinema in Maputo is one of the oldest cinemas in the country. It is still used regularly for events and screenings. If you are downtown you can go check it out. The old equipment is pretty magnificent!

Interesting places to check out in Maputo series: this is the old fort. I highly recommend a walking tour around these parts with Maputo a Pe Tours they can tell you all about the history and the significance of these places.

Interesting places to check out in Maputo series: this is the train station, a beautiful building inside and out, there’s a museum in there, a cafe, and it’s just a cool place to be!

Looking for a bank holiday Monday treat for the kids: Aqua Park is located down in Triunfu with plenty of parking, little cafes and kiosks serving all the goodies the kids will be asking for & safe slides with supervision.

When I first moved to Mozambique I lived in an orphanage in Catembe (before there was a bridge!) and the Catembe Gallery Hotel was my secret hide out when I needed some decent coffee and a sense of normality. It still holds that special place for me now.
Stunning view of the city. Chilled vibe. Full restaurant and bar for day guests. Highly recommend for a lazy weekend lunch.

This is one of my favourite places to bring tourists and family visitors when they come to Maputo. It’s an experience to take the boat across, then you get this stunning view of the city without having to smell it.
restaurantediogo1941 is the place to drink a cold beer, savour a kilo of prawns and enjoy the view
