Fatal Pedestrian Accident Near Rehoboth

The police at Rehoboth are investigating a case of culpable homicide. This follows after the driver of a motor vehicle (bus) apparently bumped the deceased, a 33-year-old Namibian male, who was allegedly walking on the road.

The incident took place on Friday, 18 September 2026 at around 06:00 on the B-1 road north of Rehoboth, the Nampol report states. The deceased’s next of kin are informed and the police investigation continues.

Moordverdagte Bly in Aanhouding

Die Staat het die toestaan van borg aan moordverdagte, Dickson Karomuini teengestaan in die Rehoboth Magistraatshof vandag.

Die beskuldigde is aangekla vir die moord op Gephardt Döeseb (11). Staatsaanklaer, Hilma Mwata het aangevoer dat die vrees bestaan dat die beskuldigde dalk mag inmeng met die polisie ondersoek en getuies, asook dat die toestaan van borg nie in belang van die publiek en geregtigheid gaan wees nie.

Die beskuldigde is in kennis gestel dat hy die reg het om formeel vir borg aansoek te doen. Hy (beskuldigde) het aangedui dat hy vir Legal Aid gaan aansoek doen ten einde 'n regsverteenwoordiger te kry.

Die saak is uitgestel tot 26 November 2026 en Karomuini bly in aanhouding. Magistraat Siegfried Jeffrey Dankie Geiseb is op die bank.

Die samekoms in Rehoboth vanoggend by die moordtoneel van die 11-jarige seuntjie, Gephardt Doëseb, is weereens bewys hoedat gemeenskappe, kerke, owerhede en almal kan saamstaan in tye van tragedies.

Waarom kan daar egter nie ook so saamgestaan word ter voorkoming van diesulke en soortgelyke tragedies? Moet daar altyd eers gewag word dat 'n tragedie plaasvind voordat gemeenskappe, kerkleiers en landsleiers in groot getalle kan saamstaan? Net laas Saterdag was daar 'n Nasionale gebedsdag, wat veral gefokus was op geslagsgebasseerde geweld/huishoudelike geweld, onderneem. Word daar regtig ag geslaan op die beskikbaarheid/afwesigheid van aktiewe hulp aan moontlike slagoffers? Landsleiers, dorpsleiers, maatskaplike werkers en kerkleiers neem verantwoordelikheid vir hierdie bose tendens wat ons vroue, kinders en ook mans daagliks affekteer. Pro-aktiewe stappe is integraal. Vandag is dit iemand anders se onskuldige kindjie, more mag dit dalk een van ons sin wees...Die Vader behoed en bewaar.

Ons harte gaan uit na die gebroke Moeder, familie en vriende van die onskuldige slagoffertjie en mag die persoon verantwoordelik vir hierdie lafhartige, bose daad sy verdiende loon kry.
