FLAME Namibia

Again FLAME at the National level and the national secretariat engaged the Parliamentary standing committee on gender equality, health, and social welfare. The committee showed enthusiasm towards the FLAME call on looking at budget for health specifically on malaria due to the havoc it is causing to communities, requesting a political will support on sustainable initiatives to mobilise domestic resources towards the elimination of malaria in the country, and requesting members of the committee to become malaria advocates especially the communities they are coming from.

Pastor Frank Mukube, the FLAME Deputy Chairperson for the National FLAME Coalition represented FLAME Namibia at the Malaria Macro-planning meeting held in Otjiwarongo from 06-10 July 2026. He highlighted the work of FLAME in Namibia from the national to regional and district zones., and showed the contributions of FLAME towards malaria elimination. Coordination, leadership and accountability, resource mobilization and resource optimization has been the main focus for FLAME Namibia.

Faith leaders for the Ncamagoro FLAME Sub zone in Kavango West, held a meeting yesterday focused on malaria Education in congregations /churches. The initiative came up because of the high numbers of cases reported this year in the catchment areas of Ncamagoro district. The faith leaders took up this commitment to sensitize the congrigats and the entire community on malaria prevention measures, the benefits of malaria interventions and empowering community members to own the prevention programs on malaria.

Faith leaders for Andara FLAME Sub-Zone in Kavango East , held a preparation meeting for the IRS Launch on the 10/07/2026. They highlighted the need for more community engagement and participation in malaria interventions to be given by the Ministry of Health
