My dear brothers,
One of the hardest battles a young man will ever fight in life is not in business, not in academics, not even in ministry—it is in the choice of a wife. Every other thing you desire in life can be received through prayer, hard work, and diligence. But hear me: you can pray fervently, fast endlessly, and work tirelessly, yet still marry the wrong woman if you lack discernment.
The Bible warns in Proverbs 21:9: “It is better to live on the corner of the roof than to share a house with a quarrelsome woman.” And again in Proverbs 12:4: “A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband, but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.” These are not mere words; they are eternal truths.
A bad woman in a man’s life is like acid—it does not destroy in one day, but gradually eats away his vision, his strength, his finances, and even his faith. She can drain your destiny until you become a shadow of yourself. Many mighty men have fallen, not because of war, not because of poverty, but because of the wrong woman they embraced in marriage.
My brothers, marriage is not a decoration, it is a destiny decision. It can either multiply your greatness or bury your glory. A wrong woman will turn your prayers into frustration, your hard work into emptiness, and your peace into bitterness. That is why it is better to remain unmarried and focused on God’s purpose than to rush into a marriage that will suffocate your future.
The Word of God says in Proverbs 18:22: “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” Notice it says a wife—not just any woman, but a woman of virtue, wisdom, and godly fear. The wrong one may look like gold, but she will act like poison.
So, young men, sharpen your spirit. Pray for discernment, seek counsel, and above all, let the Holy Spirit guide you. Marriage is not about beauty, wealth, or temporary pleasure; it is about destiny, covenant, and eternal impact. If you must wait, wait. If you must pray, pray. If you must fast, fast. Anything is better than marrying a woman who will destroy what God has planted in your life.
May God grant you wisdom and divine discernment in the journey of choosing a life partner.
