Why better products don’t always sell more

My neighbour sells bole by the roadside.
It's golden, crispy and perfect. Yet she struggles to sell.

Three streets away, another man sells bole too.
His isn’t even as good, sometimes burnt.
Yet he sells out daily.

One morning, I bought from him and understood why.

He didn’t just sell bole. He sold convenience.

“How many pieces?”
“Is it for work or breakfast?”
“Let me wrap it so it stays crispy.”
“Take extra pepper. It tastes better later.”

It was the same product with different positioning.

My neighbour sold bole while the other sold a solution.

That’s what’s happening in your business.

You’re selling what you do.
Others are selling what changes.

Nobody wakes up needing a writer.
They wake up wanting clients, visibility, authority.

➡ So stop saying: “I write content.”

✅ Start saying: “I help founders attract clients and build authority with content.”

➡ Stop leading with your skill.

✅ Lead with the result.
