Have you started taking rifampin and suddenly noticed that your urine has turned red, orange, or reddish-orange? 😳

Don’t panic! This can be a normal effect of the medicine.

Rifampin has a natural reddish-orange colour. As your body (liver/kidneys) process the drug, the drug and its metabolites can colour your body fluids.

So, you may notice the same colour in your:

🟠 Urine
🟠 Sweat
🟠 Tears
🟠 Saliva
🟠 Sputum
🟠 Stool

For most people, this colour change is harmless and does not mean that you have kidney damage or that you are bleeding.

In summary, if you are taking rifampin, don’t be alarmed by the orange-red colour. It is a well-known effect of the drug.

However, if you notice yellow eyes or skin, severe nausea, abdominal pain, or unusually dark urine, contact a healthcare professional immediately.

Not every cough that needs seprtin.😔

Some cough could be as a result of an allergic reaction or even an underlying health conditions.

Before you use septrin or any other antibiotic for treatment of cough, ensure that it is necessary.

Always speak to your healthcare provider or pharmacist before taking septrin for cough treatment.

One more thing, ensure you take septrin or any other brand that has sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim with plenty water.
