ANSACA MOVES TO STRENGTHEN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH LE LOOK BAGS ACADEMY
In line with its commitment to improving the wellbeing, self-reliance, and economic productivity of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) in Anambra State, the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) is set to partner with Le Look Bags Academy, Abuja, on skills acquisition and empowerment initiatives.
The Executive Director/Project Manager of ANSACA, Dr. Nkem Okeke, made this known following a strategic visit to the renowned Le Look Bags Academy in Abuja, where he was received by the Academy Manager, Mr. Yohanna.
Le Look Bags Academy, a leading vocational and entrepreneurial training institution owned by Chief Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa, has distinguished itself in empowering individuals with practical skills in bag production, fashion entrepreneurship, and business development.
During the visit, Dr. Okeke was taken on a tour of the Academy’s training facilities and engaged in productive discussions on areas of collaboration between both organizations. The proposed partnership will focus on equipping People Living with HIV in Anambra State with practical vocational skills, entrepreneurship training, and empowerment opportunities aimed at enhancing economic independence and improving livelihoods.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Okeke emphasized that HIV response goes beyond medical care and treatment, noting that sustainable livelihoods, economic empowerment, and social inclusion remain critical components of improving the quality of life of People Living with HIV.
He further stated that the initiative aligns with ANSACA’s State Strategic Transformation and Sustainability Plan (SSTSP) 2026–2028 and the vision of the Anambra State Government under the leadership of Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, to develop human capital, promote entrepreneurship, and create sustainable opportunities for citizens.
Dr. Okeke commended Chief Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa for her vision and contributions towards skills development and job creation, expressing confidence that the proposed partnership would create meaningful impact for vulnerable populations across Anambra State.
ANSACA expressed optimism that the collaboration will open new pathways for skills acquisition, financial empowerment, job creation, and economic resilience among beneficiaries, while contributing to the broader goal of reducing stigma, promoting dignity, and improving health outcomes across the State.

Anambra State Government Advocates Stronger HIV/AIDS Response, GBV/IPV As Global Fund, GC8 Opens New Opportunities For Strategic Investments

The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the HIV/AIDS Response ,Gender- Based Violence and Intimate Partner Violence with other social determinants of health following its active participation at the Global Fund Grant Cycle 8 (GC8) National Consultative Workshop on HIV/AIDS, GBV and IPV Programming held in Abuja.
Representing Anambra State at the high-level national consultation were the Executive Director/Project Manager of the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA), Dr. Nkem Okeke; the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Tobe Nweke, SAN; the Director of Public Petitions and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Dr Chinwe Achugbu.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders from government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, United Nations agencies, human rights actors, and technical experts to develop strategic priorities for integrating HIV/AIDS, GBV, IPV, human rights, and health interventions into Nigeria’s Global Fund Grant Cycle 8 Funding Request.
Speaking after the workshop, Dr. Okeke noted that Anambra State made strong contributions to discussions on survivor-centred care, Integrated HIV Community Response strategies , accountability mechanisms, referral pathways, social protection, and sustainable financing for HIV /AIDS and GBV/IPV interventions.
“Gender-Based Violence and Intimate Partner Violence, remain significant drivers of HIV vulnerability and poor health outcomes.
Addressing these challenges is therefore critical to achieving the goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030, and as a State, Anambra advocated for stronger integration of HIV services, psychosocial support, legal protection, community-based prevention, and economic empowerment initiatives for vulnerable populations.
He emphasized that the anticipated GC8 investments will complement the implementation of the ANSACA's State Strategic Transformation and Sustainability Plan (SSTSP) 2026–2028, which seeks to achieve zero new HIV infections, zero AIDS-related stigma and discrimination, and zero AIDS-related deaths in Anambra, while strengthening health systems and improving the wellbeing and productivity of citizens.
Dr. Okeke expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for public health, social protection, human capital development, women’s empowerment, and the HIV response in the State.
He noted that Anambra remains poised to leveraging the opportunities presented under Global Fund Cycle 8 to deepen its HIV response, strengthen GBV and IPV prevention and response mechanisms, improve healthcare access, and advance the vision of a healthier and more prosperous Anambra State.

Speaking during the ceremony, the General Manager of Emperor's Empire Development Company Limited, Chief Chinedu Oranekwu, reaffirmed the company's commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction, noting that the office would further enhance service delivery and support its expansion plans.
Also speaking at the event, the Head of Management of the company, Chief Akunnaya Oranekwu, emphasized that the opening of the office reflects the company's vision for growth and its dedication to providing quality services in the real estate, engineering, and construction sectors.
