His Majesty the King , Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwutubelu Achebe, CFR, mni, Agbogidi, the 21st Obi of Onicha, at the Coronation Ceremony and Presentation of the Staff of Office to His Majesty, King Charles Douglas MacPepple Jaja, Jeki VI.

His presence at the coronation is especially significant because Onicha and Opobo share deep historical and cultural ties through the River Niger trade routes, which connected both kingdoms for generations.

The legacy of King Jaja of Opobo, whose influence extended across the Niger Delta and the Niger River commercial corridor, reflects a longstanding relationship between the people of Opobo and Onicha built on commerce, diplomacy, and mutual respect.

The attendance of the Obi of Onicha underscores the enduring bond between the two historic kingdoms and the unity of Nigeria's traditional institutions in celebrating this landmark moment for the Opobo Kingdom.

*Eke Ekpe; Ikeji Aro 2026*

Ikeji Aro 2026 was a profound and beautiful reminder of who we are as a people.

As I watched Umu Aro gather in celebration, I saw far more than a festival. I witnessed our shared heritage carried with quiet pride, our ancestral bonds renewed across generations, and a new generation discovering, with fresh eyes, the deep beauty and strength of belonging to Arochukwu Kingdom.

To every son and daughter who journeyed home, to those who joined us from distant places, and to all whose tireless efforts made this year’s celebration possible — I offer my heartfelt gratitude. Your presence, your support, and your commitment infused the occasion with warmth, meaning, and true communal spirit.

May we continue to honour, with fidelity and reverence, all that our forebears entrusted to us. And may we pass these sacred traditions on to those who come after us with even greater care, wisdom, and love.

God bless Umu Aro.God bless Arochukwu Kingdom.
