Dear Livestock Farmers and Stakeholders,

We wish to bring to your attention that 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 (𝐀𝐒𝐅) is currently in our neighbourhood. This highly contagious viral disease is almost always fatal in pigs and can cause devastating economic losses.

𝐖𝐄 𝐔𝐑𝐆𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐓𝐎:
✅ 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 on your farms
✅ 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 of visitors and traders
✅ 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 equipment regularly
✅ 𝐃𝐨 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝 pigs kitchen waste or swill
✅ 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 new or sick pigs immediately

🔴 Loss of appetite
🔴 Reddening of skin (ears, snout, legs)

🔴 Vomiting or diarrhoea (sometimes bloody)

Avoid buying, selling, or transporting pigs until official clearance is given.

Today, 6th July 2026, L-PRES Bauchi joined forces with NVMA Bauchi State Chapter, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), and Lapa’am Animal World to commemorate World Zoonoses Day at the Bauchi L-PRES Conference Hall.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿’𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
“One Health, One Future: Animal Health is Public Health”

We came together to reinforce the critical message that protecting animal health is protecting human health. Our discussions and activities centered around:

✅ Preventing zoonotic diseases
✅ Ensuring food safety
✅ Strengthening disease surveillance
✅ Promoting healthy communities
✅ Advancing the One Health approach
✅ Securing a healthier future for all

We also took the awareness campaign to the airwaves with a media engagement at Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC) to educate the public on zoonotic disease prevention and the vital role of veterinarians in safeguarding public health.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all collaborators and stakeholders for making this event a huge success! Together, we are building a healthier and safer future for all.
