A viral video circulating online shows a Nigerian police officer issuing a chilling, direct threat to the public, vowing to "bury" any citizen who dares to film him while he is on duty.
Brandishing his weapon, the officer fumes:
"Anytime I am at work with my rifle, the oga who gave the order to video us will do your burial."
This video captures a dangerous, ongoing friction between citizens exercising their digital rights and security agents operating with a sense of total impunity.
In an era where smartphone cameras have become the ultimate tool for accountability, recording an interaction is often a citizen's only shield.
When those sworn to protect the public treat a smartphone camera like an act of war, something fundamental is broken in the system.
How do we bridge the gap between state security and citizen safety when a camera phone is met with a threat of burial?
