MY SUGAR DADDY IS STRANGE
Episode 2
Ruby pushed the hostel door open and stepped inside, letting out a tired sigh. Ifunanya was already seated at the small study table, digging into the roasted corn and pear.
"Ify, why did you behave that way today?" Ruby asked, as she dropped her handbag and sat on the bed. "You should have collected that man's card."
Ifunanya chewed slowly. "Have you forgotten I have a boyfriend?"
Ruby let out a dry laugh. "That one? You call that one boyfriend? The one that is not even serious with you?"
"He is serious," Ifunanya insisted, frowning.
"Serious how?" Ruby fired back, "He forgot your birthday. He can stay a whole week without calling you, and you will be the only one checking up on him. If you call and he misses it, he won't even call back. When you complain, he will claim he forgot. He takes forever to reply to your texts, Ify! That guy has a main chick somewhere he's giving all his attention to."
"He doesn't have any other girlfriend, he is just busy," Ifunanya defended.
"Keep deceiving yourself," Ruby muttered.
"I love Iyke, and I am not leaving him," Ifunanya said firmly and continued eating her corn.
"Okay o," Ruby waved her hand dismissively. "Abeg, give me one pear mai chop."
Ifunanya handed her one of the roasted corns.
β
The next adeceivingfternoon, Ifunanya was lying on her bed, tapping away on her phone as she chatted with her childhood best friend, Chike, who attended the same university.
Chike: *So, have you eaten this afternoon?*
Ifunanya: *No, I haven't.*
Chike: *I'm at a restaurant eating right now. What would you like? Let me order takeout for you.*
Ifunanya: *Jollof spaghetti and turkey.*
Chike: *Drinks?*
Ifunanya: *Pepsi.*
Chike: *Is Ruby there? If she is, ask her what she wants too.*
Ifunanya looked up from her screen. "Ruby, Chike is asking what you'd like to eat."
Ruby, who was flat on her back watching TikTok videos, suddenly sprang up. "Tell him I want fried rice, jollof rice, coleslaw, turkey, dodo, chicken and chips, meat pie, ice cream, Five Alive juice, Chin..."
"Ah-ah! Hungry lion." Ifunanya cut her off, glaring at her.
"He asked what I'd like to ," Ruby protested.
"He asked what you want for lunch today, not what you want for the whole week!" Ifunanya argued.
"He's rich. What I want to eat won't even stress his account," Ruby grinned.
Ifunanya hissed, rolled her eyes, and typed a reply back to Chike: *She said jollof rice, dodo, turkey, and a Five Alive.*
β
Thirty minutes later, a sharp knock echoed on the door.
"That should be him," Ifunanya said, jumping off the bed to unlock it.
"Hey, bestie. Ifunanya said
Chike smiled, holding a heavy nylon bag of food as he stepped inside.
The moment Chike walked through the door, Ruby instantly began to blush. She had a massive crush on him.
"Fine boy," Ruby greeted shyly.
Chike smiled and waved. " Hi, Ruby.
Ifunanya took the food bag from him. "Thank you so much, bestie."
"You are welcome, bestie," Chike replied, handing her a separate drink bag
"Come and sit down na," Ruby offered.
"Ah, I can't stay. I have somewhere I need to be right now," Chike shook his head.
"Why naa?" Ruby pouted.
"I will come another time." he said.
"Okay o. Thank you." Ruby said
"I'll call you later. Chike said to Ifunanya
"Alright, then. Bye. " Ifunanya waved.
The moment the door clicked shut, Ruby leaped off the bed like a sprinter, snatched the food bag from the table, sat cross-legged on the floor, and began pulling out the takeouts.
"Wait oh... where is my ice cream?" Ruby frowned, rummaging through the bag.
"What ice cream? My friend, just eat what you see there!" Ifunanya said, sitting down on the floor beside her.
"Even my meat pie is missing! You this girl, you are wicked. No wahala," Ruby grumbled playfully.
Ifunanya opened her pack of spaghetti and dug in. "Hmm, this is so good."
"Very delicious," Ruby agreed, already devouring her jollof rice. She glanced sideways at Ifunanya. "Oya, let's talk true. This your bestie... he is a very fine boy o. Is he single?"
Ifunanya stopped chewing and narrowed her eyes. "Why are you asking?"
"I'm asking for a friend."
"You are asking for a friend, or you are asking for yourself?" Ifunanya teased.
The two girls burst into laughter.
"Okay, fine! I'm asking for myself," Ruby confessed."
"He's single. Feel free to shoot your shot," Ifunanya chuckled.
Ruby sighed dreamily, resting her chin in her palm. "He is my exact spec. Tall, hot, handsome, dark-skinned, and comes from a rich home."
Ifunanya took another bite of her turkey, smiling knowingly. "Hmmm..."
β
A few days later, Chike was driving through their neighborhood when he decided to stop by the hostel.
He walked up to the door and knocked. A moment later, the door swung open to reveal Ruby.
"Hey, handsome," Ruby beamed, flashing a flirty smile.
"Hi, Ruby. Is Ify in?" Chike asked politely, looking past her into the room.
"No, she went to go see her boyfriend," Ruby replied, leaning against the doorframe.
"Ah. Well, I was just driving by and decided to stop by. Since she's not around, I'll be on my way," Chike said, turning to leave.
"Wait, Chike," Ruby said quickly. "There is something very important I want to discuss with you. Please, come in."
Chike hesitated for a second, then shrugged. "Okay." He stepped inside, and Ruby quietly shut and locked the door behind him.
"Please, have a seat," she offered.
Chike sat down on the chair.
"Do you need anything to drink?" Ruby asked, her eyes glittering.
"Water is fine," Chike answered.
"Okay." Ruby hurried to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of cold water and a clean glass, and brought them back to the table. She opened the bottle, poured the water into the glass, and handed it to him.
"Thank you," Chike said, taking a sip before setting the glass down. "So, what did you want to talk about?"
Ruby took a deep breath and looked straight into his eyes. "I heard you are single."
"Yes, I am," Chike said calmly.
"So... what do you think about me?" she asked, stepping even closer.
Chike offered a polite smile. "You are a beautiful girl, Ruby."
Before he could blink, Ruby smiled triumphantly, walked over and plopped herself squarely onto his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and running her hands seduct!vely over his chest.
"Chike, you are a very charming guy. I like you, and I want you," she whispered in a husky, seduct!ve tone.
Chike froze for a second before gently but firmly pushing her off him. "Ruby, I'm sorry. I like someone else. Please, get off me."
Humiliated and angry, Chike stood up abruptly and walked toward the door.
"It's Ify you like, isn't it?" Ruby snapped, her voice cracking with bitterness.
Chike stopped with his hand on the doorknob, but he didn't turn around.
"You know she has a boyfriend, and she will never date you." Ruby said.
"I know," Chike said quietly. He pulled the door open, stepped outside, and slammed it shut.
Left alone in the room, Ruby let out a furious hiss. She paced the floor for a few minutes, huffing in frustration, before marching over to her wardrobe. She grabbed one of her handbags, unzipped it, and pulled out the crisp, gold-embossed business card Chief Ebuka had given her.
She sat down heavily on the edge of the bed, pulled out her phone, and quickly dialed the number on the card.
It rang twice before a deep, smooth voice picked up. "Hello?"
"Chief, Chief." Ruby squealed, her mood changing instantly.
"Who is this?" Ebuka asked, sounding slightly confused.
"It's me, Ruby! Ify's friend!"
"Oh, Ruby! How are you doing?" Ebuka's tone warmed up immediately.
"I'm very fine, sir."
"And how is my Ify?" Ebuka asked eagerly.
"She's fine," Ruby said smoothly.
β
Less than an hour later, Chief Ebukaβs sleek Rolls-Royce glided to a smooth stop right in front of the hostel gate.
Ruby hurried out, pulled open the passenger door, and hopped inside, flashing a wide, calculated smile. "Chief, Chief."
Ebuka turned to look at her, his expression expectant. "Ruby. What about Ify? Have you talked to her yet?"
"Ah, no o," Ruby admitted, her smile faltering slightly.
Ebuka frowned. "Why? You promised you would help me talk to her."
"I will talk to her! I swear I will," Ruby sighed dramatically, resting her chin on her hand with a sorrowful expression. She tapped her phone against her palm. "Chief... you see this my phone?"
Ebuka glanced at the device.
"This my Android phone... I have been using it for five solid years now. It is so old, Chief. It hangs all the time, the screen is cracked, and the camera is so blurry. I am trying to start content creation, but I can't afford a new phone. I am just so tired of this phone, it stresses me out everyday," she whined, laying the grief on thick.
Ebuka burst into laughter, shaking his head. "Ruby... it's alright. I understand. I will buy you a new phone."
Rubyβs eyes widened in disbelief. "Are you serious, Chief?!"
"Yes, of course. Let's go right now so you can pick any phone of your choice," Ebuka said, shifting the car into gear.
"Yes!" Ruby screamed, throwing her hands up in excitement as the luxury car zoomed off. "Thank you very much, Chief."

MY SUGAR DADDY IS STRANGE
Episode 1
The afternoon sun blazed over the bustling street as Ifunanya and her friend Ruby stood by a roadside local stall, eagerly inspecting the freshly roasted corn.
"We need four," Ifunanya instructed, leaning in closer.
"Make sure they're the soft ones," Ruby added, gently pressing her thumb against the kernels to test their texture.
"You get coconut?" Ifunanya asked the middle-aged vendor.
"No, na pear dey," the woman replied, gesturing to a small basin filled with glistening purple African bush pears.
"Okay, give us 500 naira pear," Ifunanya said.
"Okay," the vendor nodded, reaching for a small nylon bag.
"Oya, package these four corns," Ruby said.
Just then, the low, steady purr of an expensive engine cut through the roadside noise. A sleek, midnight-blue Rolls-Royce glided to a smooth halt right beside them. The tinted window lowered with a whisper, revealing Chief Ebuka, A well dressed man, an appraising smile on his face.
"Hello, fine girl," Ebuka said, his gaze locked entirely on Ifunanya.
Ifunanya and Ruby snapped their heads toward the car.
"Who is this one talking to?" Ifunanya whispered, narrowing her eyes at Ruby.
"I think... it's definitely you," Ruby whispered back, her eyes widening in immediate recognition of the luxury vehicle.
"The fair one. My colour," Ebuka remarked, leaning slightly toward the passenger window.
"It's you. At least say hi," Ruby nudged Ifunanya with a grin.
Ifunanya looked him over once, let out a sharp hiss of irritation, and snatched the nylon bag of corn and pears from the vendor. "Let's go," she muttered, grabbing Ruby's wrist and pulling her away.
"Are you crazy? Are you not going to reply him?" Ruby protested, stumbling behind her.
"No," Ifunanya snapped, quickening her pace down the dusty walkway.
True to his word, the Rolls-Royce didn't drive off. Instead, it crept forward at a snail's pace, matching their stride.
"Nne, wait," Ebuka called out smoothly, resting his arm on the open window frame. "I'm not going to waste too much of your time."
"Ify, at least hear him out. Look at the car!" Ruby hissed under her breath.
Ifunanya stopped abruptly, turning back with a huff. "Why are you following us?"
Ebuka offered a charming, practiced smile. "The sun is too hot for a beautiful girl like you. It's far too harsh for your fine skin. Hop in, let me drop you girls."
"Our hostel is not far. Thank you for the offer," Ifunanya replied flatly, turning on her heel again.
"Sir, don't mind her at all, we will enter!" Ruby chuckled loudly, stepping closer to the car.
"Get in," Ebuka insisted, popping the electronic door locks.
"Ruby!" Ifunanya warned, glaring at her friend.
"Ah, Ify, are you not tired of using legedes benz?" Ruby shot back, using the popular slang for walking. Without missing a beat, she pulled open the passenger door. "Enter jor," she urged, gently shoving Ifunanya's shoulder.
Overpowered by Ruby's determination, Ifunanya slid into the plush leather seat. Before she could change her mind, Ruby slammed the front door, quickly pulled open the back door, hopped inside the spacious rear cabin, and shut it firmly behind her.
The interior smelled heavily of expensive cologne and refined leather.
"So, what's your name, beautiful?" Ebuka asked as he gently eased the luxury vehicle back into the flowing traffic.
"Ifunanya," she replied, her arms tightly crossed and a heavy frown plastered on her face.
"Ify baby. I'm Chief Ebuka," he said smoothly.
In the back seat, Ruby was beaming from ear to ear, taking in the dashboard screens and the silent ride.
"See your skin. You are glowing. I can even see my reflection in your skin." Ebuka teased. "Ugegbe." He chuckled
Ifunanya didnt reply she just rolled her eyes
"I like you, and I would really love to know you better," Ebuka continued, unfazed by her cold demeanor.
Ifunanya turned her head slightly. "Take the next left."
β
A few minutes later, the grand Rolls-Royce glided smoothly down the street and came to a stop right in front of the hostel gates.
"So, you are a student," Ebuka noted, putting the car in park.
"Yes," Ifunanya said immediately, reaching for the door handle. "Thanks for the ride."
"Ify, wait. Don't be in a rush to leave me," Ebuka said, quickly reaching into his wallet and pulling out a sleek, gold-embossed business card.
He leaned across the console, extending it toward her. "This is my card. I would really like to meet you again."
"I'm not interested. And thank you for the ride," Ifunanya repeated coldly. She pushed the door open and stepped out.
Inside the car, Ruby let out an amused laugh.
"Chief," Ruby chuckled, leaning forward between the front seats. "Give me the card. I will talk to her."
A flicker of hope crossed Ebuka's face. He handed the card back to Ruby. "Thank you. And you are...?"
"I'm Ruby. Ify's friend and roommate," she replied brightly, taking the card and slipping it into her pocket.
"Ruby, I really like your friend. Please, help me talk to her," Ebuka pleaded, his eyes earnest.
"Don't worry, Chief. You don't need to stress yourself," Ruby grinned, pushing the back door open. She stepped down, closed it with a soft click, and waved cheerfully at Chief Ebuka as the luxury vehicle finally turned around to drive away.
