Happy new month from all of us at EDAPI
It was a great time together in PortHarcourt where church leaders gathered to speak about peacebuilding and church security. Join us for more across the country.
Today, we wear black not only to remember those who have suffered but to speak up for those who may still be silent.
We see it. We name it. We reject it. We stand against GBV. đź–¤
She never had a bruise.
But she stopped speaking in meetings because she had been told her opinions were worthless.
She stopped wearing the clothes she liked because someone constantly criticised how she looked.
She stopped visiting her friends because she was made to feel guilty every time she left home.
She smiled, went to work, attended church, raised her children and told everyone she was fine.
But behind the smile was a person slowly losing her confidence, her freedom and her voice.
Gender-based violence does not always leave a visible wound. Sometimes, it takes away a person's voice, choices and sense of worth.
Today, we wear black not only to remember those who have suffered but to speak up for those who may still be silent.

Ecumenism department collaborated with BOWEN University Iwo and The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary Ogbomoso to hold a 3 days National Civil Leadership Summit at The Bowen University Hall. This program themed “Engaging for resilience: The Christian call to nation building” was attended by the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji who officially opened the session with his Welcome address.
Also in attendance was VC Bowen University Prof Jonathan O. Babalola, Rev. Dr Odunayo Oke (President of Charis Equip Consult/Foundation), Mr Ayo Opadokun (Lawyer, Elder Statesman).
Distinguished personalities came from far and near to contribute to this summit.

As part of our outreach to Ayetoro, the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Israel Adelani Akanji, paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Oluwambe Ojagbohunmi, the King of Ayetoro, to express solidarity with the community following the devastating floods of 29–30 May 2026.
The visit was marked by heartfelt prayers for the people of Ayetoro, words of encouragement, and a shared commitment to the community’s recovery and restoration.
In times of adversity, leadership, compassion, and faith remind us that healing begins when we stand together. We remain committed to supporting the resilient people of Ayetoro as they rebuild their homes, livelihoods, and hope for the future.
Together, we stand. Together, we restore.
In the wake of the devastating floods in Ayetoro, we had the privilege of welcoming the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Israel Adelani Akanji F.A.R
His visit was a message of hope to a community navigating loss and rebuilding their lives.
At EDAPI, we remain committed to restoring dignity, strengthening communities, and reminding every affected family that they are not alone.
