At the Lagos Startup Week, Pulse and Business Insider Africa, who were media partners, hosted a panel on "Scaling Startups through Strategic Distribution Channels" and tapped into the minds of Fabio Abiola, Tolulope Olorundero, Katy Sadé Adebayo, Olawale Akinola and Fiona Weeks, all experienced marketing and media professionals.
The panel discussants, together with Victor Oluwole, who moderated the panel, explored the importance of media distribution for startups, and exactly how startups can take advantage of the resources and capabilities of media to establish, maintain and maximize a relationship with their audiences.
Pulse's partnership with the Lagos Startup Week reiterates our passion and commitment to supporting creativity and entrepreneurship in Africa, which is in line with our mission and values. As the startup ecosystem in Nigeria and Africa continues to grow, often despite considerable hurdles, Pulse will remain committed to collaborate with and support founders and creative talent.

Katharina Link, Pulse CEO, participated as a judge in the just concluded Mad House by tikera Lens-based incubation Programme Demo Day pitch competition, held in Lagos, Nigeria, which saw Afrikohub emerge winner of the coveted $10,000 prize.
This training program by Madhouse empowered 1000 young Africans on recycled art and the business of creativity. It is a lofty initiative aiming to equip young Africans to build scalable and profitable ventures.
As a leading media company in Africa, Pulse is always poised to collaborate and support programs and initiatives that center young Africans and the creative industry, as they align with our mission and values. Fiona Weeks, Managing Director, West Africa at Pulse recently moderated a panel session held by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation on "Nigeria's startup landscape - challenges and opportunities" at the University of Lagos as part of a larger group of activities including a visit by members of the German parliament.

In April, Kenya faced some of the worst flooding in recent times. The affected areas suffered the loss of buildings, vehicles and people.

Last week, Katharina Link was a member of a panel session highlighting women’s leadership across various sectors as a driving force for change and progress at The Africa Soft Power Summit 2024 Summit held in Rwanda.
Other panel speakers were Michaella Rugwizangoga, RDB Chief Tourism Officer, Clare Akamanzi, CEO of NBA Africa and Carol Abade, Group CEO of Experiential Marketing Agency. The session was moderated by Ozonnia Ojielo, United Nations Rwanda Resident Coordinator.
Katharina spoke on the value of diversity within organizations and its potential to drive growth. She also highlighted the need to recruit technology in achieving diversity and the inclusion of women.

Katharina Link, CEO, Pulse Africa, spoke at a panel session which was part of Carry1st’s Team Retreat organized in Lagos, Nigeria. Carry1st is a leading mobile games publisher in Africa and a Pulse Nigeria client.
The session focused on the subject of “Building successful consumer businesses in Nigeria”.
Katharina spoke on the constantly evolving consumer environment in Nigeria, the challenges that a consumer-facing business will come up against, and the impact of regulation.
