KNIGHTS OF ST MULUMBA: FRATERNAL BONDING AND GROWTH IN JALINGO

The Jos Metropolitan Council of the Knights of St. Mulumba witnessed a landmark gathering as the Metropolitan Grand Knight, Sir Matthew Yokpe, led a delegation of Metropolitan executives on a working visit to the Jalingo Sub-Council.

The spirit of brotherhood and spiritual rejuvenation was high throughout the lineup of activities, supported by key clergy including the Jos Metropolitan Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Godfrey Luka Gopep, and the Jalingo Sub-Council Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke.

The visit marked a significant expansion for the noble Order in the region, celebrating both progress and fresh beginnings:

A couple was elevated to the 4th Degree, while 4 members were raised to the 3rd Degree. Additionally, a total of 12 new brothers were initiated into the Order: 9 belonging to the Jalingo Sub-Council and 3 from the Maiduguri Sub-Council.

Elections were conducted to fill leadership positions in an acting capacity for Jalingo Sub-Council. Congratulations to the newly elected officers:

The spiritual and administrative leaders shared charge and encouragement for the journey ahead:

The Provincial Chaplain, Fr. Gopep, urged the new inductees toward deep commitment, highlighting that Jalingo Sub-Council holds immense potential for greatness, fueled by the energy of the young men joining the knighthood.

The Jalingo Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Muke, admonished the newly initiated members to actively employ the 3 Ts in their service to God and humanity: Time, Talent, and Treasure.

The Metropolitan Grand Knight, Sir Matthew Yokpe, charged the new brothers to embody discipline and continuously offer their absolute best to the noble Order.

Let us keep the newly advanced, initiated, and elected brothers and sisters in our prayers as they step into their new roles of service and faith.

GABRIEL AND HIS BRIDE JOIN IN HOLY MATRIMONY

Gabriel and his bride Mercy have been joined together in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony in a colourful marriage solemnization held at St Augustine Catholic Church Dorowa in Jalingo.

The ceremony, which was held on Saturday 12th September, 2026, brought together family members, friends, parishioners and well-wishers who gathered to witness and celebrate the couple as they exchanged their marital vows and began their journey of married life together.

Delivering a stirring homily during the celebration, the Rector of Sacred Heart Seminary, Jauro Yinu, Very Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Onyekineso, reminded the couple that Christian marriage is a sacred covenant founded on love, fidelity, sacrifice and mutual respect.

The priest also called on the families, friends and the Christian community to support the newly married couple with prayers and good counsel as they begin their new life together.

The marriage solemnization concluded with prayers and blessings for the couple, as family members and well-wishers expressed their joy and wished them a fruitful, peaceful and Christ-centred married life.

The celebration ended in an atmosphere of thanksgiving and joy, with the newly married couple surrounded by loved ones who came to share in their special day.

May their union be a witness to the ever available grace in the Sacrament of Matrimony. Amen.

THE FAMILY OF MR. AND MRS. DONALD FWAH SENDS FORTH THEIR DAUGHTER IN GRAND STYLE

The family of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fwah has joyfully sent forth their beloved daughter, Grace Donald Fwah, as she gets ready to enter into the sacrament of Holy Matrimony with her to be husband Ifeanyichukwu Jeremiah Offomata.

The colourful celebration, which brought together family members, relatives, friends, well-wishers and members of the community, was held at Mr. Donald Fwah's family compound and was marked by prayers, thanksgiving, love and joyful celebrations.

The sent forth ceremony provided an opportunity for the family to give thanks to God for the gift of their daughter and to officially welcome her into a new chapter of life as a wife.

In their words of appreciation, the parents of the bride to be expressed gratitude to God for guiding their daughter to this important stage of her life. They also thanked relatives, friends and well-wishers who joined them to celebrate the occasion.

The yet to wed couple received prayers and goodwill messages from family members and guests, who wished them a peaceful, fruitful and Christ-centred married life.

CATHOLIC BISHOPS' CONFERENCE OF NIGERIA CONVERGES IN OSOGBO DIOCESE

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has officially gathered at the Pastoral Centre in Ede, Diocese of Osogbo, for its 2026 Second Plenary Assembly, taking place from September 10 to 18, 2026.

Under the warm leadership of Most Rev. John Akinkunmi Oyejola and the faithful of Osogbo Diocese, shepherds from across the nation are united in the Living Spring State for this historic 9-day gathering to pray, deliberate, and offer spiritual direction for the Church and the nation.

May the Holy Spirit guide our Bishops with divine wisdom, grace, and courage throughout their stay in Osogbo Diocese, and grant all delegates safe travels.

YOWICAN TARABA CONCLUDES WEEK-LONG PROGRAMME WITH MUSIC CONCERT, COMPETITIONS

The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Taraba State Chapter, has concluded its week-long programme with a colourful music concert and other youth-oriented competitions in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

The programme, which began at the First Baptist Church Jalingo, with the theme, “Exploring and Exploiting Youth Potential in the 21st Century,” concluded today, Sunday, at the CAN Secretariat, Jalingo.

In his closing remarks, the Youth Coordinator, Dr. Job Julius, expressed appreciation to all the participants for their active involvement throughout the programme. He also commended the organisers and other stakeholders for their support towards the success of the event.

Dr. Julius particularly appreciated the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba State Chapter, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Williams Awoshiri, for his support and encouragement throughout the programme.

The grand finale featured a music concert where young people demonstrated their musical and creative talents. The event also provided an avenue for participants to interact, celebrate their achievements and encourage one another.

As part of the closing activities, the YOWICAN officials presented awards of honour to deserving participants in recognition of their outstanding performances and contributions during the programme.

A football competition was also organised as part of the activities, further providing the youths with an opportunity to demonstrate their sporting abilities and promote unity and healthy interaction among participants.

The week-long programme ended on a joyful note, with organisers expressing hope that the initiative would continue to provide young people with platforms to discover, nurture and utilise their potentials for the good of the Church and society.

JALINGO CELEBRATES FINAL PROFESSION OF VOWS FOR TWO NEW AUGUSTINIAN SISTERS

The Catholic Diocese of Jalingo marked a joyous milestone on 4th September 2026 with the Final Profession of Vows of two religious women belonging to the Canonesses Regular Hospitallers of the Mercy of Jesus of the Order of St. Augustine (AMJ).

​The solemn ceremony took place during a Holy Mass held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cathedral, Mile Six, in the Taraba State capital. The newly professed sisters are Rev. Sr. Amelia Achama Dauda, AMJ, and Rev. Sr. Talatu Usiju Anthony, AMJ.

​The Catholic Bishop of Wukari Diocese, Most Rev. Mark Maigida Nzukwein, who was the Chief Celebrant at the Mass, described the gift of religious profession as a divine calling that draws human hearts closer to God, during his Homily.

​The prelate challenged the newly professed sisters to model their lives strictly after Christ rather than human figures, emphasizing that the act of profession must be matched by a conscious, daily following of the Savior.

He also expressed gratitude to the families of the newly professed for their sacrifice and urged parents and guardians to patiently guide their children toward a life rooted in Christ.

​Following the liturgy, the Prioress of the Augustinian Sisters of the Mercy of Jesus, Rev. Sr. Caroline Gogwim, AMJ, expressed profound appreciation to all attendees, particularly thanking the families of the Finally Professed, for willingly dedicating their daughters to the service of God. She also extended her gratitude to the Bishops of Jalingo and Wukari for their sustained fatherly support, while offering special prayers for Bishop Hammawa for God to strengthen him in all his endeavors.

​The liturgical celebration was followed by a vibrant reception at the Augustinian Monastery in Mile Six. The gathering featured the traditional cutting of the cake, presentation of gifts, colorful cultural dance performances, and festive fellowship.
