Taraba State Polytechnic Students Explore Advanced Engineering Technologies at AMTDI Jalingo

The Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Institute (AMTDI), Jalingo, hosted 40 ND I and ND II students of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Taraba State Polytechnic, Suntai, on an educational excursion designed to bridge classroom learning with practical engineering experience.

The students were received on behalf of the Overseeing Officer, Mr. Abdulrahman Barkindo Bawuro, by Engr. Yusuf Iliyasu, Deputy Director/Head of R&D, who welcomed the delegation and encouraged the students to maximise the opportunity for practical learning.

The programme featured briefings on NASENI and AMTDI activities, general engineering principles and industrial safety, delivered by Mr. Sadiq Mohammed Tukur, Head of Admin & HR; Engr. Adamu Abdullahi Babaji; and Mr. Mohammed Abacha Ibrahim, respectively.

The students subsequently toured key AMTDI facilities, including Manufacturing Services, Foundry, Welding and Fabrication, Machine Operations, Instrumentation and Control, Material Testing, Process and Automation under the FACT Centre, 3D Printing, and AI & Robotics.

At the AI & Robotics Unit, Engr. Yusuf Deyeri introduced the students to practical applications of artificial intelligence, robotics, embedded systems and automation.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting delegation, Engr. Chikere Ebekwe, Senior Lecturer, appreciated AMTDI Management and Staff for providing the students with valuable practical exposure, noting that the experience would complement their classroom knowledge.

The excursion concluded with a group photograph involving the students, lecturers and AMTDI Management/Staff, marking another step in strengthening practical engineering education and industry-academic collaboration.

AMTDI Jalingo Wraps Up Two-Week Robotics and AI Boot Camp for Kids

The Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Institute (AMTDI), Jalingo, has concluded a two-week Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Holiday Boot Camp for Kids, with participants showcasing innovative prototypes developed during the programme.

The closing ceremony featured project presentations, certificate awards, remarks from parents and facilitators, a cake-cutting ceremony and a group photograph.

Representing the Overseeing Officer of AMTDI Jalingo, Mr. Abdulrahman Barkindo Bawuro, the Head of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Sadiq Mohammed Tukur, praised the children for their commitment and creativity.

He said the programme reflects AMTDI’s commitment to nurturing young Nigerians who can become future innovators, engineers and technology entrepreneurs.

The Unit Head of Robotics and Chief Facilitator, Engr. Yusuf Deyeri, said the training was designed to expose children to practical technology and encourage them to develop solutions to real-life problems.

The major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of five group prototypes.

Group A presented a Security Light through its leader, Fatima Muhammad Sadiq; Group B presented a Smart Plant Watering System through Faridah Tijani; Group C presented an Automatic Smart Gate through Rodihat Tijani; Group D presented a Fire Detector Alarm through Hafsat Mohammed Bashir; while Group E presented a Smart Room through Samuel Jinadu Yawe.

The projects demonstrated the children’s growing understanding of automation, sensors, electronics, programming and smart technology.

Following the presentations, certificates were issued to the participants.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Jinadu Yawe, one of the parents and Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Skills acquisition, commended AMTDI Jalingo for providing children with practical technological education.

Other parents, including Mr. Friday, as well as Engr. Theophilus, also expressed appreciation to the facilitators for their dedication and for creating an environment that encouraged creativity, teamwork and innovation.

The celebration continued with a cake presented by Engr. Silas Shiayet, one of the facilitators, followed by a cake-cutting session involving the children.

The ceremony concluded with a group photograph, marking the successful end of the two-week programme.

The boot camp is another demonstration of AMTDI Jalingo’s commitment to catching them young and building the technical capacity of the next generation.

The Holiday Boot Camp for Kids on AI and Robotics at AMTDI Jalingo is entering its final stage, and the transformation is inspiring.
