‎‎PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT DIRECTS TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF SCHOOLS, A PREVENTATIVE MEASURE AGAINST DIPHTHERIA

‎The Plateau State Government has directed the temporary closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools across the State, effective Monday, September 7, 2026.
‎
‎The directive under the leadership of his Excellency, Caleb Manaseh Mutfwang,Esq, is taking preventative measures against the Diphtheria Infection outbreak of suspected cases in some parts of the State notably Jos North, Wase, Jos South & Bassa, local Government Areas .
‎
‎Accordingly, schools that have already resumed academic activities are also directed to close from Monday, September 7, 2026, and remain closed until further notice.
‎
‎Furthermore, school proprietors, administrators, teachers, parents and guardians are to comply fully with the directive and ensure that students and pupils remain safely at home throughout the period as part of measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils, students, teaching and non-teaching staff during the period under review
‎
‎The Government appreciates the understanding and full cooperation of all stakeholders as it continues to take appropriate measures in the best interest of the people of Plateau State.

‎Further information on the resumption of academic activities will be communicated to the public in due course.

TALLAFIN HAJJI ZUBA JARI NE CIKIN ZAMAN LAFIYA — MUTFWANG

Gwamnan Jihar Plateau, Caleb Mutfwang, ya ce ɗaukar nauyin alhazan jihar zuwa aikin Hajji zuba jari ne wajen samar da zaman lafiya, jituwa tsakanin addinai da shugabanci mai bai wa kowa dama, ba wai wata hanya ce ta rabon alfarma ta siyasa ba.

Gwamna Mutfwang ya bayyana hakan ne a ranar Alhamis, yayin da yake karɓar rahoton aikin Hajjin shekarar 2026 a sabon gidan gwamnati da ke Rayfield, Jos.

Ya ce alhakin gwamnati bai tsaya ga samar da ababen more rayuwa da damar tattalin arziki kaɗai ba, har ma ya haɗa da samar da yanayin da zai ba ‘yan kasa masu addinai da kuma ra’ayoyin siyasa daban-daban damar zama lafiya tare da bayar da gudunmawa wajen ci gaban jihar.

Gwamnan ya ce aikin Hajji ya k**ata ya zama wata dama ta sabunta ruhaniya, gyaran ɗabi’a da kuma ƙara fahimtar cewa dukkan bil’adama daidai suke a gaban Allah.

Mutfwang ya kuma yi kira ga al’ummar Plateau da su yi watsi da rarrabuwar kawuna ta fuskar addini da siyasa, yana mai cewa ci gaba da jaddada bambancin Musulmi da Kirista zai iya kawo cikas ga burin jihar na samun zaman lafiya da ci gaba.

Ya kawo nadin tsohon Kakakin Majalisar Wakilai ta Tarayya, Ahmed Idris Wase, a matsayin Amirul Hajji a matsayin wata shaida ta aniyar gwamnatinsa na tabbatar da haɗin kai da tafiyar da mulki ba tare da nuna bambancin siyasa ba.

Gwamnan ya yaba wa Wase bisa yadda ya jagoranci tawagar alhazan jihar a aikin Hajjin 2026 cikin nasara, yana mai jaddada cewa ƙwarewa, gaskiya da kishin jama’a su ne ya k**ata su zama ginshiƙan bai wa mutum amanar aikin gwamnati, ba la’akari da jam’iyyar siyasa ba.

Mutfwang ya kuma kare kashe kuɗaɗen gwamnati wajen aikin Hajji, yana mai bayyana shirin a matsayin zuba jari ne wajen zaman lafiya da kwanciyar hankali. Ya kuma yaba wa Hukumar Jin Daɗin Alhazai ta Jihar Plateau bisa inganta tsarin aikinta da kuma rufe hanyoyin da wasu ke amfani da su wajen karkatarwa ko sayar da guraben Hajji.

Tun da farko, Amirul Hajjin jihar, Ahmed Idris Wase, ya bayyana cewa Jihar Plateau ta ɗauki nauyin sama da rabin alhazai dubu ɗaya da ɗari uku da talatin da huɗu da s**a gudanar da aikin Hajjin shekarar 2026.

Wase ya kuma ce Hukumar Hajji ta Ƙasa, NAHCON, ta karrama Jihar Plateau saboda irin goyon bayan da ta bai wa alhazanta da kuma yadda ta gudanar da aikin Hajjin, inda aka bai wa Gwamna Mutfwang lambar yabo.

Ya danganta nasarar aikin Hajjin da haɗin gwiwar Hukumar Jin Daɗin Alhazai, malamai da sauran masu ruwa da tsaki, tare da inganta wayar da kan alhazai da shirye-shiryen addini a sassa daban-daban na jihar.

Gwamna Mutfwang ya ce aikin Hajjin shekarar 2026 ya sake ƙarfafa matsayar gwamnatinsa cewa ba za a iya samun ci gaba mai ɗorewa a Plateau ta hanyar wariya ta addini ko siyasa ba, sai dai ta hanyar haɗin kai, haƙuri da kyakkyawar zamantakewa.

PLATEAU HAJJ SPONSORSHIP AN INVESTMENT IN PEACE — MUTFWANG

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, says the state government’s sponsorship of Muslim pilgrims to the annual Hajj is an investment in peace, religious harmony and inclusive governance, rather than political patronage.

Governor Mutfwang stated this on Thursday while receiving the report of the 2026 Hajj operation at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

He said government’s responsibility goes beyond providing infrastructure and economic opportunities to creating an environment where citizens of different faiths and political affiliations can coexist peacefully and contribute equally to the development of the state.

The Governor said pilgrimage should serve as an opportunity for spiritual renewal, moral reflection and greater understanding of the equality of humanity before God.

Mutfwang also called on Plateau citizens to reject religious and political divisions, saying continued emphasis on Muslim-Christian differences would undermine the state’s collective aspiration for peace and development.

He cited the appointment of former House of Representatives Speaker, Ahmed Idris Wase, as Amirul Hajj, despite their political differences, as evidence of his administration’s commitment to inclusion and bipartisanship.

The Governor commended Wase for successfully leading the 2026 Hajj delegation, stressing that competence, integrity and commitment to the common good should determine public responsibility rather than political affiliation.

He further defended government expenditure on pilgrimage, describing it as an investment in peace and stability, and commended the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for strengthening its processes and blocking loopholes associated with the manipulation or sale of Hajj slots.

Earlier, the Amirul Hajj, Ahmed Idris Wase, disclosed that Plateau State sponsored more than half of the one-thousand-three-hundred-and-thirty-four pilgrims who participated in the 2026 Hajj.

Wase also said the state received recognition from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, for its support and performance during the pilgrimage, with Governor Mutfwang receiving an award.

He attributed the success of the operation to collaboration among the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ulamas and other stakeholders, as well as improved religious orientation and mobilisation across the state.

The Governor said the 2026 Hajj programme reinforces his administration’s position that sustainable development on the Plateau cannot be achieved through religious or political exclusion, but through inclusion, tolerance and social cohesion.
