𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒, 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐀 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

As part of the Rapid Integrated WASH and Cholera Response, chlorination is being carried out in unclean and high-risk areas within the affected communities to support efforts to reduce the risk of cholera transmission. The intervention focuses on disinfecting contaminated or unhygienic surroundings where harmful microorganisms may persist, helping to create a cleaner and safer environment for community members. This activity is complemented by hygiene promotion, proper sanitation, and community sensitization to encourage healthy practices and reduce exposure to cholera.

Through this response, in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services Nigeria (CRS Nigeria), is supporting the 9 target communities in Mangu LGA to strengthen environmental hygiene and protect vulnerable households. By combining practical disinfection measures with community awareness and behaviour change, the project is helping communities take collective action to minimize health risks and build a safer environment for everyone.

JDPC Jos welcomed representatives of Brot für die Welt, in partnership with Development Exchange Centre (DEC), on an assessment visit to explore opportunities for collaboration and future projects. The visit provided an opportunity to learn more about JDPC Jos work, engage with the team, and discuss areas where partnership can support meaningful and lasting change.

Through stronger partnerships and shared commitment, we can support communities to build resilience, improve their well-being, and create opportunities for a more peaceful and inclusive future.

The Social Justice, and Human Development for Peace initiative (JDPC Jos) commissioned newly constructed toilet facilities at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Diye, Zaramaganda, as part of the 2024 Lenten Campaign intervention.

Beyond providing essential infrastructure, the project reflects the true purpose of Lenten giving transforming generosity into meaningful development and promoting the common good.

Funds raised during the Lenten Campaign are channelled into initiatives that improve the lives of parishioners and communities, while encouraging the spirit of almsgiving, service, and solidarity during Lent.

𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐋𝐄𝐃𝐆𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒: 𝐓𝐎𝐆𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓 𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐀

Knowing what cholera is, how it spreads, how to prevent it, and what to do when symptoms appear can save lives. This is why JDPC Jos, in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services (CRS Nigeria) Nigeria, is taking vital cholera prevention and hygiene information directly to people in 9 communities across Mangu LGA. Through community sensitization and hygiene promotion, families are learning simple but important practices such as drinking safe water, washing hands regularly, using toilets properly, keeping food and surroundings clean, and seeking medical care early when symptoms occur. By sharing knowledge and empowering communities to take action, we are strengthening prevention, encouraging healthy behaviours, and helping protect lives from cholera.

JDPC Jos warmly welcomed the EYN (Ekklesiyar Yan'uwa a Nigeria) Women Mission from Yola on a courtesy and learning visit to our office.

The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful exchange, shared experiences, and mutual learning on women’s participation, community development, leadership, and the important role women play in creating positive and lasting change in their communities.

We appreciate the EYN Women Mission for the visit and the opportunity to strengthen connections, share knowledge, and promote collective action for stronger and more inclusive communities.
