Psalm 123 : 1 - 4
Expecting Mercy from God.

Every one has someone or something he looks up to. No human being is sufficient in himself. He needs other people from time to time. The Psalmist here focuses his gaze on God. When we look to men, we are often disappointed because man by nature is unpredictable and unreliable. In contrast, God is totally reliable and dependable. Those who trust in Him will never be disappointed. Notice what the writer desires from God (vs.2b - 3) We all need the mercy of God in a world that is full of evil, violence and uncertainties. Men are getting increasingly wicked, and they despise the godly people who seek to follow God. We need the mercy of God for deliverance from the wicked, to help us live lives that please Him and not to live in sin and partner with a crooked world. God has called us to live in holiness and be separated from the world.
In prayer, believers look up to God for divine intervention and for His hand to rule in our affairs by directing us,supplying our needs, protecting us from danger,correcting/ disciplining us when we go astray and rewarding us. Are you pressed into a corner of need? Keep on looking to God our Father in heaven.

My big elder sister on her 70th birthday with the children of her last twin (one of the twins carrying one of her children).Today 1st October we celebrate her posthumously @ 77. What a world!!

Revelation 22 : 6 - 21
"Even so , come, Lord Jesus."

Read vs. 6 -10 again. What does it mean to "keep the sayings of the prophecy of this book" (v.7)? Scripture is its own best interpreter. We must not add or take away from the word of God (Deut 4 : 2 ; Prov 30 : 5 - 6).In the light of the foregoing, how seriously are you taking the warnings in vs.18 - 19?
Apostle John was overwhelmed by what he saw and heard. He fell down to worship the angel ( see Rev. 19 : 8 - 10) but was given three counsels : do not worship angels; worship God; and do not seal up the Revelation. Why was Daniel commanded to seal his book (Daniel 12 : 14) and John asked to do otherwise with Revelations? see Revelations 1: 1- 3 ; 22 : 7,10.
Jesus Christ's coming will be like a thief in the night. People will not have time to change character- wise. God is mindful of our sacrifice and service, and rewards will be given to those who have been faithful, but some will be utterly thrown out (vs. 12 - 16). "Behold I come quickly" is repeated in (vs. 7, 12, 20).We must reply in word and deed, "even so, come Lord Jesus!"

Revelation 21 : 9 - 22 : 5

Nothing that defiles or profanes or is unwashed will ever enter it.

John was shown a holy city, prepared in heaven and descending to the earth. It is a place of glory and beauty, the perfect home for the Lamb's bride for all eternity, and the glory of God dwells in the city (vs.9 - 11). Note what constitutes the city's beauty, its security and holiness (vs.18 - 27).
The city has twelve foundations and gates, and a high wall. The wall and gates, speak of protection. God's people will never have to fear any enemies, for Angels will be sentries (vs.12 - 14).Note the names written on the foundations and the gates. What does this say of the Old and New covenant saints? The measured city is said to be "equal on all sides." This indicates perfection ; nothing is out of order or balance. Its dimensions also indicate there will be plenty of room for everyone (vs. 15 -17).
Somethings are not in the city. See these in vs 22 - 27 ; 22 : 3, 5 ; Isaiah 60 : 19. There is only one river in the heavenly city which flows directly from God's throne. What will we do in heaven for all eternity (Rev.22 : 3).There will be no boredom there.

GUARDIAN ANGELS.

Today, September 29, is St. Michael and all Angels Day, a day set aside to celebrate the Ministry of the Angels. On this day, we are reminded of the role of Angel Michael who is known for being in command of many angels to fight the dragon (Rev. 12 : 7 - 8; Dan.10 : 12 - 13).Angels are created beings but by nature, are spirits meant to assist us. They are not to be worshipped or prayed to (Rev.22: 9; Col.2: 18).They are ministering servants to believers (Heb. 1 : 14), and shall be judged by believers (1Cor. 6 : 3).Angels praise the Lord and do His commands (Psalm 103 :20; 148 : 2); rejoice in the salvation of men (Luke 15 : 10); and minister to the heirs of salvation Heb. 1 : 14,1Kings 19 5 - 8; Dan.6: 22).
Verse 10 of our text today reveals that believers have guardian angels. Just as we have physical security guards who defend us against physical enemies, so too believers have heavenly security guards - angels who watch over us. If the Lord will open our eyes to see the angels keeping guard over us, we will get to know that the angelic guards on our side are more than the evil forces in our enemy's camp (2Kings 6 :15 - 17). Let us take the Lord by His Word that "I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matt. 28 : 20), and be assured that His guardian angels will continually attend to us to protect us from the evil one.
