Yesterday at EbonyLife Cinema, the premiere of the biopic "Madam Vice-Chancellor: Against the Odds" was held in honour of our 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello.

The film documents her life, celebrating her journey of climbing the ranks in academia to become a prominent leader in African higher education.

The biopic was produced by the Women and Girls Empowerment Foundation International, led by Professor Olawunmi Oni-Buraimoh.

This past Sunday, one of LASU's finest, Victory Ashaka, held a listening party for his EP titled "The Moving Man".

The listening party allowed the audience to listen to the six tracks and engage in a Q&A session on how the spoken word pieces were produced.

The EP features six tracks, with titles such as "Child of the Altar", "It Takes Two to Tango", "Black Tax", and "The Moving Man", which has become a hit across social media by motivating people to stay driven in pursuit of their goals.

"The Moving Man" is available on all streaming platforms.

As Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello concludes her tenure as LASU’s 9th Vice-Chancellor, we take a quick look at some of the milestones recorded under her administration.

LASU SENATE HONOURS OUTGOING VICE-CHANCELLOR

The Lagos State University Senate on Thursday, 27 August, held a valedictory session in honour of the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, as she prepares to conclude her five-year tenure.

The session, held at the Senate Chamber, reflected on her administration’s contributions to academic development, research, infrastructure, staff and student welfare, and the overall growth of the University.

In her address, Professor Olatunji-Bello thanked the University community for their support and urged members to remain committed to LASU’s progress, emphasising that while leadership may change, “LASU must remain.”

Her tenure officially ends on 19 September 2026.
