TOPIC: Ergonomic Hazards and Safety Control Measures
Ergonomic hazards are workplace conditions that can cause muscle, joint, and other body injuries because of poor posture, repetitive movements, excessive force, or improper workstation design.
Common Ergonomic Hazards
●Poor posture – prolonged bending, twisting, slouching, or awkward working positions.
●Repetitive movements – repeatedly performing the same task, such as typing, lifting, or assembly work.
●Manual handling – lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling heavy or awkward loads.
●Prolonged sitting or standing – remaining in one position for extended periods.
●Poor workstation setup – incorrect chair height, monitor position, desk height, or keyboard placement.
●Excessive force – using too much physical effort to operate tools or handle materials.
●Vibration – prolonged use of vibrating machinery or hand tools.
●Insufficient rest – inadequate breaks during repetitive or physically demanding work.
Safety Control Measures
●Conduct ergonomic risk assessments regularly.
●Provide adjustable workstations suitable for individual workers.
●Maintain correct posture: keep the back supported, shoulders relaxed, and wrists in a neutral position.
●Position computer monitors at approximately eye level and at a comfortable viewing distance.
●Use mechanical lifting aids such as trolleys, hoists, and lifting equipment where practicable.
●Train workers on proper lifting and manual-handling techniques.
Rotate tasks to reduce repetitive movements and muscle fatigue.
●Provide adequate rest breaks and encourage workers to change position regularly.
●Use properly designed tools and equipment to reduce excessive force and vibration.
●Keep frequently used items within easy reach to avoid unnecessary stretching and twisting.
●Report discomfort or early symptoms promptly so corrective action can be taken.
Key safety message: A good ergonomic workplace fits the job to the worker—not the worker to the job.

TOPIC: CCTV CONTROL ROOM HAZARD AND SAFETY CONTROL MEASURES
Control room hazard focus on risks like eye strain, back pain, and stress from long shifts. Key controls include adjusting chair height, taking regular screen breaks, setting proper lighting, and keeping walkways clear to protect worker health and safety.
Main Hazards
Eye Strain: Staring at multiple video screens for a long time hurts the eyes.
Musculoskeletal Pain: Sitting in a bad posture causes neck, shoulder, and back aches.
Mental Stress: Watching for problems or emergencies for hours causes high stress.
Trip Hazards: Loose wires or cables on the floor can cause people to fall.
Poor Air Quality: Stuffy rooms with bad airflow can make workers feel tired.
Control Measures
Screen Breaks: Look away from monitors every 20 minutes for 20 seconds.
Ergonomic Chairs: Adjust your chair so your feet flat on the floor and back is supported.
Proper Lighting: Reduce glare on screens by lowering harsh overhead lights and using desk lamps.
Cable Management: Tape or tie down loose wires so nobody trips over them.
Rotation Schedules: Switch tasks or take short walks between long monitoring blocks to lower stress.
