What Are You Eating?
Happy new month Neighbours 😁.
How many of you see that friend/celebrity with glowing, gorgeous skin and you wonder, what are they eating sef?😒. The answer is not far-fetched. In fact, it's in your kitchen. God, so kind, has given mankind luscious fruits that can be consumed and used for beauty routines. Remember my story? My diet was majorly fruits and here's why.
Your skin, as the largest organ in the body, works pretty hard. Not only does it protect you from microbes and the elements, it also regulates your temperature and aids in vitamin production amongst others. Eating healthy is key to having and maintaining a healthy, radiant skin.
I'd like to share with you, some of my favourite fruits and their roles in the body.
*O for Orange😋: you know this fruit is rich in Vitamin C. But did you know that taking oranges several times a week will help your skin retain its firmness and keep it hydrated? You can eat it or take its freshly, squeezed juice instead.
*Watermelon🍉: I sooo love this one ehn. I can't say if it's because watermelon is rich in fibre or Vitamins C, A, B1 and B6 which are essential for skin health and texture or that it contains 92% of water! Hydrated and soft skin straight up!💯. I prefer taking it early in the mornings, e get why 😁. You could choose to make a smoothie out of it🍹
*Cucumber🥒: This humble fruit is rich in Vitamins C and K. Interestingly, it is 96% water. Wahala for who no like cucumber 😜. First of all, it quenches your thirst and boosts your immune system. Since its major content is water, it has a cooling effect when you use it on your puffy eyes. It can be eaten everyday, no allergic reaction🤭.
Okay, so these are the top 3 for me. If you observe clearly, they contain more of water. That's amazing. This is because you are what you eat. If you choose to feed on sugar, alcohol, excessive dry foods and not balance them out, you'll end up with dull skin. Besides their yummy taste, fruits are highly beneficial.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. Don't forget to like, repost and comment. Eat well😘

My Stress Story 😨
Hello Neighbours😘. Yeah, I know it's been a whhhillleee. I had to take a brief, meaningful break, pardon me.
I'm deeply saddened by what's going on in our dear country, Nigeria. As someone who has been comforted by God, I say to all my neighbours who were affected, in one way or the other; God loves you and everything is alright 😁🤗.
Alright, I observed something with my skin this past week. With all the fear, anxiety, unrest, terror and evils around, my skin suffered😓. For several nights, I wasn't resting well, I developed heart palpitations, throat was constantly dry, digestive system locked up and I kept sweating profusely 😱. All these, for me sum totals stress. As a result, my face was looking terrible, puffy eyes, dark circles under my eyes, chapped lips; honestly I felt like a sandpaper.
FYI, my skin type is combination (dry and oily). Once there was a measure of calm in the atmosphere, I went to the market and got a variety of fruits(cucumber, oranges and watermelon)😋. For a few days, my diet included these *fruits, lots of water and proper rest*. I also indulged in a deep face cleansing routine💃🏾. Glad to say that, the Sleeping Beauty has awoken!
Stress is unavoidable but when it eventually visits, how do you handle it? Which is why I still emphasize, know your skin type! This will guide your skin care choices.
* Talk to God. He alone gives peace that endures forever, especially if you're still emotionally stressed.
* Try and unwind after a long day/week. You deserve the care.
* Observe! Know when you're doing or thinking too much and take a pause.
* Talk to friends. Make it a priority to laugh heartily with them.
I'd like to hear about your skin stories. What other factors do you think can topple the skin's balance? Let us know in the comment section. Don't forget to like and repost! Thank you 🤗

Hello my Neighbours😁. I trust you're good and you now know your skin type. Today, we're dedicating it to the honourable Sensitive Skin geng😎; special people.
Them: I have a very sensitive skin.
Me: 🙄How do you know that?
Them:Ehn, when I use so and so product, it itches my skin. The other day, my skin turned red.
Alright,😏 calm your horses and let's stroll down to the dermatologist's office. The best way to find out if you have sensitive skin is to have a dermatologist check you - no two ways about it, people.
What is sensitive skin? According to Dermatologist Jessie Cheung, it is skin that is reactive than usual.
Causes?
*Excessive exposure to skin damaging environmental factors such as the Sun's UV rays, wind, extreme heat or cold.
*Skin disorders and allergies.
*Overly dry or injured skin that can no longer protect nerve endings
*Genes can also contribute.
*Even lack of sleep😤
The most common trigger to the maladies of sensitive skin is the use of the skincare products. #
Looking at the above factors, we see that in the end, the skin is in need of urgent repair👷🏾♀️👷🏾♂️ that involves hydration, rehydration and sun protection. Now that's where I come in😁. Healthy skin is important for all- men and women alike- don't forget that.
Solution?
*Use the right skincare products. Look for organics, water based products containing glycerin, shea butter, coconut oil.
*When trying out new products, test the product on a small area of the skin first before applying fully.
*Avoid products containing alcohol, retinoids, alpha-hydroxy acids, sulphates and chemical sunscreens. All these dry out your skin and absorb sun rays.
*Throw out old products!!!
*Eat healthfully- foods rich in water.
*Don't stay out in the sun for too long especially between 10am to 4pm. That's when UV rays are strongest
Wow, how long have I been writing! Abeg no vex🙏🏾.
Sha, remember to see a certified dermatologist before it gets worse. They are your best shot. Have a blessed week😁
