The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has addressed concerns from candidates whose admission status on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) has remained "Proposed" or "Recommended" for several weeks, even after their O'Level results were verified.

For many of these candidates, the wait has been stressful. With the admission cycle moving forward, they fear that any further delay could cost them valuable time.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲

A candidate recently appealed to the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, on X (formerly Twitter), asking him to look into the situation so that affected candidates would not lose time while waiting for their admissions to be concluded.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱

Responding to the concern, Prof. Aina stated that there is currently "no issue," explaining that the applications are simply "being worked through."

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀

His response suggests that the delay is linked to the ongoing processing of applications, rather than a confirmed technical problem with the CAPS platform. In other words, a status that has not changed does not necessarily mean something has gone wrong with an individual application.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗼

Candidates whose status remains "Proposed" or "Recommended" are advised to:

1. Remain patient while processing continues.
2. Keep checking their JAMB CAPS profile regularly for updates.
3. Monitor their institution's admission portal for further information.
4. Check if you're having mismatched on your details, O'level.
5. Rely only on JAMB Help Desk channel for official updates.

🔥 UPDATE: 👉 2027 EXAMS: NECO SET TO HOLD BEFORE WAEC AS PROPOSED JAMB, NECO, WAEC, NABTEB & NBAIS DATES EMERGE

A proposed national examination timetable for 2027 has placed the NECO SSCE ahead of the WAEC WASSCE, following a meeting held on September 30, 2026, between the Honourable Minister of State for Education, examination bodies and representatives of private schools.

Under the proposed timetable:

• JAMB UTME: March 15–25, 2027
• NECO SSCE: April 1–May 14, 2027
• WAEC WASSCE: May 11–June 18, 2027
• NABTEB: June–July 2027
• NBAIS: June–July 2027

This means that, if confirmed by the respective examination bodies, NECO SSCE will commence before the 2027 WAEC WASSCE, unlike the sequence many candidates are accustomed to.

However, the dates are currently proposed and subject to confirmation by the respective examination bodies. Registration dates and some result-release dates are also yet to be communicated.

75% TRCN-QUALIFIED TEACHERS REQUIREMENT

The meeting also resolved that schools seeking approval to serve as examination centres must ensure that at least 75% of their teachers are TRCN-licensed by December 11, 2026.

Compliance will be verified, and schools that meet the requirement will have their details uploaded to the designated registration portal.

Schools that fail to meet the requirement will not be approved to serve as examination centres.

Further details on the implementation of the resolutions are expected to be communicated in due course.

Today, many UTME candidates struggled to accept/reject their respective admission offers as a result of lack of guidelines and reliable information. It was reported, some candidates miss their admission offers within a stipulated period because they are not well informed. We drafted a step by step guide how how a candidate can accept/reject admission offer.

Have you received an admission offer? Do not leave it pending. You must formally accept or reject it through JAMB. Follow the steps below.

𝗠𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗗 𝟭: VIA JAMB CAPS (ONLINE)

1. Log in to your JAMB e-Facility profile.
2. Scroll down and click "Check Admission Status."
3. Select the year (2026) and click "Access my CAPS."
4. Click "Admission Status."
5. If an offer is showing, click "Accept" or "Reject" and confirm your decision.
6. Log back in later to confirm that your status has updated.

Tip: If the Accept or Reject button does not appear, switch your browser to Desktop Mode.

𝗠𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗗 𝟮: VIA SMS (NO INTERNET REQUIRED)

1. Open your SMS or Messages app.
2. Start a new message to 55019 (or 66019).
3. Type your JAMB Registration Number, followed by a space, then ACCEPT or REJECT.
Example: 12345678AB ACCEPT
4. Send the message from the same phone number linked to your JAMB registration.
5. Make sure you have enough airtime.
6. Wait for the confirmation message from JAMB.
7. Log in to CAPS afterwards to confirm your admission status.

𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦

- The SMS method only works if the offer is already showing on CAPS. It will not work if your status is "Admission in Progress" or "Not Admitted."
- Use only the SIM registered with JAMB.
- Acceptance is difficult to reverse, so be sure of your decision before confirming.
- After accepting, print your admission letter and result slip from your profile.
- If you still face problems, visit our support via WhatsAp 0706 833 6801 for assistance.

𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘: JAMB has reportedly set 30 October 2026 as the final date for candidates with pending offers (2021 to date) to accept or reject. Please confirm your admission status and accept/reject when required.

Candidates who encounter challenges with processes such as O’level uploads, JAMB result printing, admission processing, JAMB regularization, admission-letter printing, CAPS access, Post-UTME registration, correction of personal details, or mismatched candidate information are advised to contact us for assistance.

📢 UPDATE : JAMB O’LEVEL RESULT VERIFICATION: WAEC, NECO, NABTEB & NBAIS NOW AVAILABLE

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has expanded its O’Level result verification options, with WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS now available for candidates on the verification platform.

Candidates can now select the relevant examination body when carrying out their O’Level result verification on the JAMB portal.

Important: Candidates who have previously uploaded their O’Level results and can already see their results correctly reflected on their JAMB CAPS do not need to undergo the verification process again.

If your O’Level result is already showing correctly on CAPS, you can proceed with your admission process without repeating the verification.

Candidates are advised to check their JAMB CAPS and ensure their O’Level details are correctly reflected.
