THE ENEMY WITHIN: WHEN YOUR NEIGHBOR BECOMES YOUR KILLER

24th 2026 | The Monsters Lived Next Door

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EnCpPT9Mi/

Nigeria, wipe your tears and open your eyes. Wendy Achumba was not killed by “unknown gunmen” from the forest. She was hunted, r***d, and beheaded by boys from the community her campus is located.

Suspect Onyema Okonkwo confessed. He and one Emmanuel, both members of Umuadara, Umulogho, planned it. They watched her. They waited until her two roommates left for clinicals. They came at 7 p.m., r***d her repeatedly, hit her with a stick, and left her for Emmanuel to slit her throat - all because she said “no” to s*x.

These were not outsiders. They were sons of the soil. Boys who grew up in the same streets, drank from the same wells, attended the same churches. Boys who decided that a young woman’s “no” was an invitation to violence.

“If the snake you feed in your compound bites you, don’t blame the bush.”

Nigeria, we have raised a generation of snakes in our compounds.

1. They Shattered Her Door. Shattered Her Body. Shattered Our Soul.

Miss Wendy Achumba was a nursing student with one mission: to save lives. Instead, boys from the community hosting her school broke into her room, took turns ra**ng her, beat her to a state of unconsciousness, and slit her throat like an animal.

She was not killed in a war zone. She was slaughtered in her own bed, in a house where the owner lives abroad, in a compound where neighbors knew she was alone.

If a nursing student cannot sleep safely in a community that should protect her, then no Nigerian student is safe anywhere.

“When the hen is no longer safe in the coop, you don’t blame the hen. You kill the fox and burn the coop if it harbors foxes.”
Right now, our communities are breeding foxes and calling them sons.

2. This Is What Happens When Society Fails to Raise Humans

What kind of youth plans to r**e and behead a woman for s*xual pleasure?
What kind of community raises boys who see women as prey, not people?

This is the fruit of a society that abandoned moral training. A society where parents are too busy chasing money to train character. Where schools teach exams but not conscience. Where churches preach prosperity but not redemption and justice. Where elders clap for “big boys” with dirty money and call it success.

We have raised children who have data for p**n but no data for empathy. Who know how to hold a knife but not how to hold responsibility. Who see violence as entertainment and women as disposable.

“A child not trained at home will be trained by the world, and the world is merciless.”
Today, the world has trained them into monsters. And we are all paying for it.

3. Nigeria’s Learning Spaces Are Now Killing Fields

From Imo to Benue, from Delta to Kaduna, from Kogi to Oyo, Nigerian students are the most vulnerable people in the country.

- They live in off-campus hostels with no gates, no lights, no security, because government refused to build safe hostels.

- They are stalked, r***d, kidnapped, and killed by criminals who know nothing will happen to them.

- They are attacked by cultists, by armed robbers, by terrorists, and now by their own neighbors who see them as easy prey.

Learning cannot happen where fear sleeps on the pillow next to you. A nation that cannot protect its students is a nation that has chosen extinction.

“When the drummer goes deaf, the dance becomes madness.” Nigeria’s leaders have gone deaf to the screams of students.

4. The Lesson: A Nation That Eats Its Children Has No Tomorrow

Wendy dreamed of healing Nigeria. Instead, Nigeria murdered her dream with its own sons.

No amount of condolence tweets will bring her back. No amount of “we condemn” statements will wash this blood off our hands. Her death must be the line in the sand.

If we continue like this, we are not raising graduates. We are raising corpses and killers.

5. What Must Happen NOW to Stop This Barbarism

1. Arrest, Try, and Expose Everyone Involved — Publicly: No secret trials. No cover-ups. Let Nigeria see the faces of these monsters. Let parents see what their failure produced. Emmanuel must be arrested and prosecuted along with his accomplice. No mercy for the wicked.

2. Hold Communities Accountable: Communities that harbor, hide, or excuse such crimes must face consequences. If you protect a ra**st, you are a ra**st.

3. Fix the Home First: Parents, your first assignment is not school fees. It is character. Teach your sons that “no” means no. Teach your daughters to speak up. A home without discipline is a factory for criminals.

4. Reform Schools and Churches: Schools must teach moral education, not just mathematics. Churches and mosques must preach accountability, not only prosperity.

5. Secure Campuses Now: Build fenced, guarded, lit hostels on campus. Deploy CCTV and rapid response teams. If you can secure an election, you can secure a hostel.

6. Punish R**e and Murder Without Mercy: No plea bargains. No amnesty for kidnapers, ra**sts and killers. Let the punishment be so severe that the next boy thinks twice before lifting a knife.

“Silence in the face of evil is partnership with the devil.” If you stay quiet, you are guilty of the next Wendy’s murder.

6. To Every Nigerian: Wake Up Before It’s Your Child

This is not Imo State’s problem. This is Nigeria’s problem. Today it’s Wendy. Tomorrow it could be your daughter, your sister, your wife.

Communities, stop protecting your sons when they commit evil.
Parents, stop raising children who have money but no morals.
Government, stop playing politics with blood.
Students, stop dying in silence. Record it. Expose it. Report it.

Dogo Yellow, The Ruthless Kidnap Kingpin of Edo State

‎‎Last week, operatives of the Edo State Police Command busted a seven-man kidnap gang allegedly terrorising Emu and parts of Edo Central.

‎‎Among those arrested was the alleged gang leader, Yusuf Hassan, 29, popularly known as “Dogo Yellow,” which sources described as ruthless and merciless toward his victims, especially ladies.

Other members of the gang arrested include Adamu Mohammad, 25; Gado Alhaji, 28; Jerry Okoyomon, 49; Salisu Abubakar, 22; Illiasu Sulaiman, 26; and Illiasu Yahaya, 24.

‎‎‎‎According to reports, whenever ransom payments failed to meet his expectations, he allegedly collected the money, killed the victim, and concealed the body.

‎‎Sources further alleged that Dogo Yellow was particularly brutal toward female victims, whom he reportedly subjected to repeated violent assaults while in captivity. Obviously, due to shock, one of the victims reportedly collapsed after seeing him in police custody.

The news of his arrest has reportedly brought relief to residents across Edo Central.

‎‎The suspects are expected to be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.

The feat was largely made possible due to renewed the determination and strategic measure of the current leadership of the Nigeria Police Force led by the Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu to rid the country of criminal activities and elements.
