Our regular swim therapy sessions? Just 30 minutes to 1 hour of hard work, and off you go. Damilola, our 6-year-old fun-lover living with cerebral palsy, sometimes gets bored and cries.

But at “Empower Your Child With Swimming”, our holiday workshop and camp outing? The children do up to 4 hours of fun therapy and hardcore swimming, and there are absolutely no tears. Just pure joy!

“Empower Your Child With Swimming”, SID Africa’s holiday swimming workshop is packed with fun, healing, and relief for children with disabilities. It was 3 weeks of non stop transformations and we present to you the opening ceremony of Day 1, Location 2. Everyday had a theme and message.

A 13-year-old girl just getting by with swimming lessons at school, terrified of deep waters. Her progress learning to swim had been painfully slow for years.

Then everything changed.

Hear her mum's testimony of how her attitude and desire for more grew, and how the transformation became so obvious. Her incredible progress came in just 3 classes experience with Swim in 1 Day SID Africa.

At the Grand Finale of "Empower Your Child With Swimming", our holiday workshop swimming camp we held a handstand competition between 4 teenagers:

Femi — our one-legged amputee
Segun — who is visually impaired
Onoshoagbe — also visually impaired
Praise — no disability, but never received training on how to do handstands

This goes to show that people with disabilities can often do better in many situations, if only our societies would start giving equal opportunities to everyone.

Yesterday, September 10th, we held the Grand Finale of "Empower Your Child With Swimming", our holiday workshop for children with disabilities , and it was a truly successful event!

The highlight? A somersault competition between three incredible young men:

🤸 Praise — no disability, son of a swimming coach, and has been swimming all his life

This intensive, inclusive Paralympic-style prep camp is all about celebrating ability, resilience, and joy, because every child deserves the chance to shine.
