30 Days of Awareness on Teen Mental Wellbeing
Day 8: Understanding Anxiety in Teenagers
Do you know that feeling anxious sometimes is normal, but constant anxiety can affect a teenagerโs wellbeing?
Everyone feels anxious from time to time before an exam, a competition, or trying something new. Anxiety is a natural response to stress. However, when worry becomes intense, frequent, or begins to interfere with daily life, it may be a sign that a teenager needs support.
Teenagers may experience anxiety because of academic pressure, family challenges, peer relationships, social media, or uncertainty about the future.
Some signs of anxiety in teenagers include:
๐ Constant worry or fear.
๐ Difficulty concentrating.
๐ Trouble sleeping or feeling tired.
๐ Avoiding school, social activities, or certain situations.
๐ Physical complaints such as headaches, stomach aches, or a racing heartbeat without a clear medical cause.
How can we help?
โ Encourage open conversations about their feelings.
โ Listen without criticizing or dismissing their concerns.
โ Teach healthy coping skills such as deep breathing, physical activity, journaling, and prayer or mindfulness.
โ Seek professional support if anxiety is persistent or begins to affect daily functioning.
Remember:
Anxiety is not a sign of weakness. With understanding, support, and the right help, teenagers can learn healthy ways to manage anxiety and thrive.
As parents, caregivers, teachers, and mentors, letโs reassure teenagers that they do not have to face their worries alone.
๐ฌ Question of the Day:
What healthy activity helps you feel calm when youโre worried or stressed?

Day 7: Signs of Emotional Struggles in Teenagers
Do you know that emotional struggles in teenagers are not always obvious?
Teenagers donโt always say, โIโm not okay.โ Sometimes, their struggles show up through changes in their behaviour, emotions, or daily habits.
Recognizing these signs early can make a big difference.
Some common signs to watch for include:
๐ Sudden mood changes or irritability.
๐ Withdrawing from family and friends.
๐ Losing interest in activities they once enjoyed.
๐ Changes in sleep or eating habits.
๐ Difficulty concentrating or a decline in school performance.
๐ Feeling hopeless, worthless, or overwhelmed for a prolonged period.
These signs do not always mean a teenager has a mental health condition, but they are important signals that they may need understanding, support, and someone to listen without judgment.
How can you help?
โ Listen with empathy.
โ Spend quality time together.
โ Encourage open conversations.
โ Seek professional support when needed.
Remember:
Sometimes, the greatest gift you can give a teenager is your time, your patience, and your willingness to listen.
As parents, caregivers, teachers, and mentors, letโs create safe spaces where every teenager feels seen, heard, and valued.
๐ฌ Question of the Day:
If a friend seemed emotionally overwhelmed, what would you do to support them?

Day 6: Peer Pressure
Do you know that peer pressure can influence a teenagerโs choices, even when they know what is right?
During the teenage years, friendships become very important. Teenagers naturally want to feel accepted and belong. While friends can encourage positive behaviours, they can also influence negative decisions.
Peer pressure is not always direct. Sometimes, teenagers feel pressured simply by wanting to fit in or avoid being left out.
Positive peer pressure can encourage teenagers to:
๐ Develop good study habits.
๐ Build healthy friendships.
๐ Participate in positive activities.
๐ Make responsible decisions.
Negative peer pressure may lead teenagers to:
๐ Engage in risky behaviours.
๐ Lose confidence in themselves.
๐ Ignore their values to gain acceptance.
๐ Experience stress, anxiety, or regret.
How can teenagers handle peer pressure?
โ Know your values and stand by them.
โ Choose friends who respect your decisions.
โ Learn to say โNoโ with confidence.
โ Talk to a trusted adult when you feel pressured.
Remember:
True friends will never pressure you to do something that puts your health, safety, or future at risk. The best friendships encourage you to become a better version of yourself.
As parents, caregivers, teachers, and mentors, letโs help teenagers build confidence so they can make wise decisions even when faced with pressure.
๐ฌ Question of the Day:
Have you ever been pressured to do something you didnโt want to do? How did you respond?

Day 5: Self-Esteem in Teenagers
Do you know that self-esteem is how you see and value yourself?
Self-esteem influences how teenagers think, feel, and behave. It affects the choices they make, the relationships they build, and how they respond to lifeโs challenges.
Teenagers with healthy self-esteem are more likely to believe in their abilities, respect themselves and others, and have the confidence to pursue their goals. On the other hand, low self-esteem may cause them to doubt themselves, compare themselves with others, or give in to negative peer pressure.
Healthy self-esteem helps teenagers to:
๐ Believe in themselves
They recognize their strengths and believe they can learn and improve.
๐ Handle challenges better
They are more resilient and see mistakes as opportunities to grow.
๐ Build healthy relationships
They respect themselves, set healthy boundaries, and treat others with kindness.
๐ Make positive choices
They are less likely to seek approval through risky behaviours and more likely to make responsible decisions.
๐ Feel valued and accepted
They understand that their worth is not determined by appearance, popularity, or social media likes.
Remember:
Every teenager is unique and valuable. Encourage them to focus on their strengths, celebrate their progress, and understand that no one is perfect. A kind word, genuine encouragement, and a supportive environment can make a lasting difference in a teenagerโs self-esteem.
As parents, caregivers, teachers, and mentors, letโs help teenagers see themselves through the lens of their potential rather than their imperfections.
๐ฌ Question of the Day:
What is one quality or strength that makes you proud of yourself? Share it in the comments.

Day 4: Understanding Teen Emotions
Do you know that teenage emotions can sometimes feel stronger than they really are?
During adolescence, teenagers experience rapid physical, emotional, and hormonal changes. At the same time, their brains are still developing especially the part responsible for controlling emotions and making decisions. This is why they may sometimes react strongly, become easily frustrated, or feel overwhelmed.
Feeling happy one moment and sad the next does not always mean something is wrong. It is often part of growing up. However, learning to understand and manage these emotions is essential for healthy mental wellbeing.
Understanding emotions helps teenagers to:
๐ Recognize what they are feeling
Identifying emotions is the first step to managing them.
๐ Express feelings in healthy ways
Talking to a trusted adult, writing in a journal, praying, creating art, or engaging in physical activity can help.
๐ Manage strong emotions
Learning healthy coping skills helps teenagers respond calmly instead of reacting impulsively.
๐ Build stronger relationships
Understanding emotions improves communication, empathy, and conflict resolution.
๐ Make better decisions
When emotions are managed well, teenagers are more likely to make wise and responsible choices.
Remember:
Every emotion is valid. Feeling angry, sad, afraid, or disappointed is part of being human. What matters most is learning healthy ways to understand and express those emotions.
As parents, caregivers, teachers, and mentors, we should create safe spaces where teenagers feel heard, accepted, and supported without fear of being judged.
๐ฌ Question of the Day:
What healthy way do you use to manage your emotions when youโre feeling overwhelmed?

Day 3: What Is Mental Health?
Do you know that everyone has mental health, just as everyone has physical health?
Mental health is not only about having a mental illness. It is about our emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. It influences how we think, feel, act, handle stress, relate to others, and make decisions.
For teenagers, good mental health is important because they are going through many changesโphysically, emotionally, socially, and academically. These changes can sometimes feel exciting, and at other times, overwhelming.
Having good mental health does not mean a teenager is happy all the time or never faces challenges. It means they are able to:
* Recognize and express their emotions in healthy ways.
* Cope with everyday stress and setbacks.
* Build positive relationships with others.
* Learn, grow, and make responsible decisions.
* Ask for help when they need it.
Just as we encourage teenagers to eat healthy foods, exercise, and care for their bodies, we should also encourage them to care for their minds by talking about their feelings, getting enough rest, staying connected with supportive people, and seeking help when necessary.
Remember: Mental health is a part of overall health. Taking care of our minds is just as important as taking care of our bodies.
Did you know that everyone has mental health? Share one thing you do to take care of your mental wellbeing.
30 Days of Awareness on Teen Mental Wellbeing
02/07/2026
This is the time of the year when we commence our 30 Days of Awareness on Teen Mental Wellbeing. This is in preparation for our Fun Friday for Mental Health holding every first Friday in August.
Kindly engage and share our posts as we learn together.
Today is Day 2. Our focus is on Introduction to Teen Mental Wellbeing
Do you know that teen mental wellbeing is more than just โnot feeling sadโ or โnot being stressedโ?
It is about how teenagers think, feel, and behave in their daily lives. It affects how they handle pressure, build relationships, make decisions, and see themselves.
Adolescence is a period of rapid emotional, physical, and social changes. Because of this, teens may sometimes feel overwhelmed, confused, or pressured but this does not mean something is wrong with them. It simply means they are growing and learning to understand themselves.
Good mental wellbeing helps teenagers to:
* Understand their emotions better
* Build healthy relationships
* Make positive and safe choices
* Bounce back from challenges and disappointments
Important Reminder:
It is okay for teenagers to have difficult days. What matters is learning how to manage those feelings in healthy ways and knowing when to seek support.
As parents, educators, and caregivers, we all play a role in creating safe spaces where teens can express themselves without fear or judgment.

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING
June 26, 2026
Theme: โThe World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses.โ
Drug abuse is more than an individual struggle. It is a social issue that affects families, schools, and entire communities. Every child and young person deserves the opportunity to grow in a safe, supportive, and drug-free environment.
At PACE SETTERS Integrated Social Intervention Initiative, we believe that prevention begins with education, positive relationships, life skills, and strong community support. By equipping children and adolescents with the knowledge, confidence, and resilience to make healthy choices, we can reduce their vulnerability to substance abuse.
On this International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, we call on parents, educators, caregivers, faith-based organizations, community leaders, and policymakers to work together in protecting our young people from the dangers of drug abuse.
Every conversation matters. Every intervention counts. Every child deserves hope.
Together, we can build a generation that chooses purpose over drugs and hope over addiction.
Say NO to Drug Abuse.
Say YES to Healthy Choices, Hope, and a Brighter Future.
