Hospitality Project: Ilashe Beach Resort

Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Lagos Lagoon, Ilashe Beach Resort was conceived as a sustainable luxury retreat rooted in its coastal environment.

The masterplan combines private villas, tropical landscaping, communal leisure spaces, and locally sourced materials—including thatch, timber, and raffia palm—to create a hospitality experience closely connected to nature. Designed to pursue EDGE certification and operate largely on solar power, the project explored how low-impact architecture can shape a distinctive destination along Nigeria's coastline.

Although construction began, the project was ultimately paused before completion, leaving behind a vision for a new model of sustainable hospitality in West Africa.

Exploring architecture through exploded diagrams.

Exploded diagrams reveal the layers that shape a building, making complex design strategies legible and accessible. By separating individual components, they illustrate how climate responsiveness, spatial organization, and material systems work together as an integrated whole.

This diagram of Villa B highlights the building envelope, passive environmental strategies, privacy elements, and custom ceramic sun-shading facades that define the project's architectural identity.
