These photos mean a lot more to me now.
Some years ago, Mr Psquare came to the studio where I worked to record ADR for a film. It was a really lovely experience. He was incredibly warm, humble and easy to talk to. During the downtime, he would gist with us about life, his experiences and, eventually, some of the things happening within P-Square and his family.
A lot of what Peter has been talking about in these videos is stuff I had already heard from him that day. So watching him finally tell his story publicly all these years later has been very different for me. I remember sitting there listening to him and thinking, “Wow, so this is what is actually happening behind the scenes?”
That experience genuinely changed the way I look at celebrities and the things we see online. We can watch two people on a stage, see the smiles, the performances, the interviews and everything else, and assume we know the story. We often don’t.
I’ve been a huge P-Square fan for as long as I can remember. I still have my physical copy of the “Danger” album [Last Slide]. And if I’m being completely honest, back in their glory days, I was probably more drawn to Paul simply because I thought the longer hair was cool.
But meeting Peter changed something for me. I got to experience the person behind Mr. P, and I came away with an even deeper respect and love for him as an individual.
So watching everything unfold now, I can’t pretend I don’t have a personal perspective. I remember that conversation. I remember the person I met. And I remember how much some of what he shared that day affected the way I understood P-Square.
Whatever the final truth of every allegation may be, I hope Peter gets the clarity, accountability and peace he has been seeking.
Sometimes, there really is so much more happening behind the scenes than the public ever knows.
I’m rooting for you, Mr. P. ❤️
