CELEBRATING YOUTH AS NATION BUILDERS🇳🇬💚

Nation-building does not always happen on the biggest stages.

Across the country, young Nigerians are redefining nation building - creating solutions, driving innovation, building businesses, serving their communities, and championing causes that contribute to the Nigeria they hope to see. Among them are two young women, Miss Taiwo Alabi and Miss Kehinde Alabi, who continue to embody this spirit.

As beneficiaries of the 2023/2024 S.M.I.L.E. Executive Mentoring Program for Youth (EMPY), Social Enterprise Cohort, their journey is a beautiful reminder that being equipped is only the beginning. What truly matters is how we use the knowledge, opportunities, and experiences we gain to contribute meaningfully to the society.

Through EduCycle Initiative, Taiwo continues to work across education, sustainability, literacy, menstrual health, and youth development, reaching young people in underserved communities and creating opportunities for them to learn, lead, and thrive.

Kehinde, through Art For Life Initiative, and her work as an educator and counsellor, she
uses art, education, mentorship, and advocacy to help young people discover themselves, uncover talents and potential they may not have recognised, and navigate life with greater purpose.

This is what Youth as Nation Builders looks like.

What makes their stories even more special is that, as S.M.I.L.E. alumni, they have returned to invest in younger social entrepreneurs—giving back to a community that once invested in them. 💚

From being mentees to becoming mentors, educators, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)advocates, and community builders, Taiwo and Kehinde represent the kind of ripple effect we hope to see from every young person we empower.

As we celebrate Nigeria at 66, we celebrate young leaders, change makers, and nation builders like Taiwo and Kehinde Alabi. 🌱
