Concerned Professionals In The Built Environment .

Yesterday, I joined Professionals, family, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate six decades of impactful living and 34 Years of dedicated public service of a true icon of leadership and town planning, Tpl. (Mrs) Risikat Bello FNITP.

Over the decades, she has been a pillar of strength and a deep source of inspiration for so many within the Lagos Metropolis.
Her dedication to lifting others up remains remarkable.

I pray this new chapter brings her even more joy, greater happiness, renewed purpose, good health and countless blessings.

Happy 60th birthday and Congratulations on a stellar, meritorious retirement, ma!

My fav slide is.......slide VIII (digging it on seat 💺 gotta be my fav party moments)😴😂🧐😍

Effective Listening - A Key To Professional Growth

The Power of attentive listening is simple.
- Look
- Listen 👂 and
- Learn

One of the best career habits you can build is paying rapt attention during meetings.

Sometimes, you might not be called upon to air your opinion

You won't always contribute but you will be opportuned to hear how experienced learned professionals 🗣️

- think through problems 😔
- challenge ideas 💡
- make critical decisions

The biggest lessons are rarely on the Agenda.
They are in the conversations being spoken, the side comments, the pauses, the way questions are asked.

Don't just listen, pen🖊️down points.
Always have your jotter and biro handy!
Writing forces you to process. Six months later when a similar problem comes up, you might not remember the meeting...but you will remember your notes ✍️

Your next promotion might be hiding in someone else's sentence.

The people who grow fastest are rarely the loudest in the room.
They are the ones who listen 👂, connect dots and speak once - but with value 🔂

CoolKidneys Stakeholder Engagement Workshop: Understanding The Impact Of The Heat Stress on Kidney Health Among Outdoor Construction Workers in Nigeria

Themed - "CoolKidneys: Beat the Heat, Save Your Kidneys"

Spending time with critical thinkers and Builders of Africa's future will continually be a source of delight to me.

Expert Talks were given by various Professionals.
Dr Muzamil Hassan from the Health Sector explained the clinical and health implications from heat stress leading to kidney failure.

Mr Sh*ttu Sh*tta Balogun (SSB) - CMIOSH , a representative of Flour mills who doubles as an Health and Safety Professional expantiated on the Work ethics of the Construction industry, practices and guidance relating to outdoor construction work. He emphasized the need for Construction workers to Plan-Do-Check-Act.

The event featured an engaging fireside chat with Industry Leaders/ Professionals in Construction and Health where we had interactive workshop activities with each group discussing for few minutes before feedback was given to the general house.

Conclusively, let's all endeavour to keep learning and raising awareness about the key drivers of heat stress/kidney health, it's major challenges and the way forward - adopting new heat safety practices like scheduled hydration breaks & rest during peak heat hours.

My big takeaway from the event was - Prioritize the Safety and Health of your renal cavity to avoid kidney issues futuristically.
This is a wake up to all outdoor workers in the Nigerian Construction sector.

A big thank you to Aminat Elegushi from LTV for moderating the sessions beautifully.

Thank You, our dear Covener and Researcher; Prof. Faatihah Niyi-Odumosu, MBChB, MSc, PhD, PGCertHE, FHEA and other researchers Hope Ameh (MRes, PhD) , Patrick Manu , University of the West of England
