Dangote says refinery will seek US listing after expansion to 1.4m bpd

Aliko Dangote, president of the Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), says the Dangote refinery plans to list on the US stock exchange after expanding its capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day within the next two and a half years.

Dangote spoke during an interview with CNN on Thursday.

“After we have gone to 1.4 million bpd in the next two and a half years, we will now list in the US and I believe a lot of other people too will join, because by that time, we’re going to be the biggest refinery ever in the history of the world, with a massive petrochemical complex,” he said.

FACT CHECK: didn’t say ‘Yoruba Muslims aren’t practicing real Islam’

On Thursday, some social media users posted a flyer featuring the image of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), with a statement attributed to him claiming that “Yoruba Muslims are not practising real Islam”.

The picture in the flyer was a screenshot from Obi’s interview on Arise Television.

“The Yoruba Muslims are not practicing real Islam. Real Islam is being practiced only in the North, that’s why the president should do Sallah in Sokoto or Kano,” the flyer read.

N’assembly suspends ALL legislative engagements with South Africa over xenophobic attacks

The national assembly has suspended all official visits to South Africa and directed lawmakers and officials to boycott legislative activities hosted or organised by the country until further notice.

In a statement signed by Kamoru Ogunlana, clerk to the national assembly, the leadership of the nation’s legislature attributed the decision to the persistent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in the former apartheid country.

In recent months, there have been attacks and destruction of property targeting Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.

Philip Agbese: Wike committed no infraction in borrowings — he didn’t bypass n’assembly

Philip Agbese, deputy spokesperson of the house of representatives, says Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), followed due process in borrowing for the nation’s capital.

Agbese, who represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo federal constituency in Benue, said the minister committed no infraction in borrowing to finance projects and programmes in the nation’s capital.

In August, Ireti Kingibe, the senator representing the FCT, said Wike was borrowing without obtaining the parliament’s approval.

The Sun Newspapers has nominated Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue, for its 2026 governor of the year award.

Onuoha Ukeh, managing director and editor-in-chief of The Sun Newspapers, presented the nomination letter to Alia on Thursday at the government house in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.
