𝗔𝗦𝗔𝗣 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 🚨🚨🚨

𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 93 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 93 senior police officers following the successful completion of written examinations and oral interviews held at its headquarters in Abuja.

The promotions include 13 Commissioners of Police elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs), 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to Commissioners of Police (CPs), 28 Assistant Commissioners of Police promoted to Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), and 33 Chief Superintendents of Police elevated to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).

The Commission also confirmed the appointments of 162 Assistant Superintendents of Police II (ASP II) to the substantive rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police I (ASP I).

PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (Rtd.), congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to uphold professionalism, integrity, transparency, accountability, and respect for the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.

𝗨.𝗦. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲

Children born on U.S. soil continue to be recognized as U.S. citizens under the country's longstanding interpretation of birthright citizenship.

Although President Donald Trump previously signed an executive order aimed at restricting birthright citizenship for certain children born in the United States, the policy has faced legal challenges and has not taken effect nationwide. The issue remains the subject of ongoing court proceedings rather than having been definitively rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court.

As it stands, birthright citizenship remains in effect while the legal process continues.

The World Bank has approved a new $1.25 billion loan facility for Nigeria to support key development and economic reform programmes. The approval, however, has sparked fresh public debate over the country's growing debt profile and concerns about its long-term fiscal sustainability.

𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗣 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝘀 712 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘀

The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, has certified 712 newly trained Corporals and Constables after they successfully completed an intensive Musketry and Weapons Handling Training Programme held at the 11 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Calabar.

The three-week training, conducted in June 2026, forms part of the Inspector-General of Police's drive to strengthen the operational capacity of officers through continuous professional training.

Addressing the newly certified personnel, CP Afegbua cautioned them against the unlawful or irresponsible use of fi****ms, stressing that weapons must always be handled with discipline, professionalism, respect for human rights, and in strict compliance with the rule of law.

He also urged the officers to uphold integrity, fairness, and accountability in the discharge of their duties, reaffirming the Command's commitment to continuous capacity building and effective policing across Cross River State.
