Mbakuran Vaakaa Cancer Foundation also known as MVC Foundation is a non-governmental, non-profit making, non-religious and non-partisan organization that was founded out of passion when Mbakuran Vaakaa died of cancer. Her children thought it wise that, there’s need to establish a foundation in her name that will educate, create awareness and sensitize the general public on cancer and other illnesses like tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Malaria etc and cater for the wellbeing of the infected persons hence most of those infected die as a result of lack of information/care. Since her establishment, MVC Foundation has been carrying out self-funded programs such as awareness campaign and sensitization on Cancer, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Malaria and free HIV testing services and referrals. Distribution of treated mosquitos nets, condoms, hand gloves etc both in rural and urban areas at various schools, IDP camps, government establishments and communities in Benue State including hard-to-reach areas using our lean resources and support from individuals and corporate organizations. Vision
MVCF envision a future where dreadful diseases that escalate death will be mitigated and people living with these illnesses will not be preyed with fear of death or discrimination
Mission
To improve the living condition of infected/affected people with dreadful diseases and the general public through proper sensitization, treatment, care and capacity building aim at reducing their morbidity and mortality rate. People living with Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

Prostate cancer doesn’t have to be a death sentence. When we catch it early, we can treat it.
If you’re 50+, have a family history, or are of African descent, your risk may be higher. But the good news? There are steps you can take today:
Eat better. Move more. Keep a healthy weight. And most importantly, see your doctor for regular check-ups.
To every father, brother, uncle, and friend: please get checked. Your life matters.

Prostate cancer doesn’t discriminate. But silence makes it worse.
This September, Mbakuran Vaakaa Cancer Foundation is reminding every man:
1. Know your risk. Age, family history, and lifestyle matter
2. Know your body. Don’t ignore changes
3. Know your options. Screening is simple and it works
You don’t have to face this alone. We’re here to educate, support, and connect you to care.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
We are shining a light on Prostate Cancer. Early detection saves lives. Let’s talk about it, screen for it, and support the men in our lives.
What to LOOK OUT FOR
Prostate cancer can develop with no symptoms early on. But watch for:
1. Urinary changes: Trouble starting urination, weak flow, frequent urination especially at night
2. Pain or discomfort: Painful urination, painful ej*******on, pain in lower back, hips, or pelvis
3. Blood: Blood in urine or semen
4. Other signs: Erectile dysfunction, unexplained weight loss
Note: These can also be from other conditions. Don’t panic, but do check.
What to DO
1. Talk to a doctor: Men 50+ should discuss prostate screening. Men 40+ if you have family history or are of African descent, which has higher risk
2. Get screened: Ask about a PSA blood test and/or Digital Re**al Exam. It’s quick
3. Live healthy: Eat fruits & vegetables, limit red/processed meat, exercise 150 mins/week, maintain healthy weight
4. Know your family history: If father/brother had prostate cancer, your risk is higher. Start conversations early
5. Break the silence: Encourage the men in your life - fathers, brothers, husbands, friends to get checked. No shame in it

August may be ending, but awareness doesn't stop here.
This month we talked about appendix cancer. It’s rare, it’s often misunderstood, and too many people only hear about it late.
What we want you to remember:
1. Know the signs: persistent abdominal pain, bloating, changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss. If something feels off, get it checked.
2. Early detection matters: talking to a doctor early can change outcomes.
3. You are not alone: to everyone affected by appendix cancer, we see you, and we’re with you.
Thank you to everyone who liked, shared, and learned with us this August. Keep the conversation going, share this post, and help someone get checked sooner.
