World Hepatitis Day | July 28, 2026
A Message from First Rivers Hospital
What is Hepatitis?
Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver. It can be caused by viruses, alcohol, medications, or other conditions.
The most common types are Hepatitis A, B, and C.
Hepatitis B and C are especially serious because they can become chronic and lead to liver damage, cirrhosis, or liver cancer if untreated.
The scary part? Many people don’t know they have it because it often shows no symptoms at first.
Common Symptoms to Watch Out For:
- Yellowing of the eyes and skin - jaundice
- Fatigue and weakness
- Fever, nausea, vomiting
- Abdominal pain, especially on the right side
- Dark urine and pale stool
- Loss of appetite
- Joint pain
Some people have no symptoms for years. That’s why testing is the only way to know for sure.
The Good News:
Hepatitis A is preventable with a vaccine.
Hepatitis B is preventable with a vaccine and treatable with medication.
Hepatitis C is now curable with treatment.
Early screening saves lives.
This World Hepatitis Day, let’s break the silence. Let’s talk about liver health without shame.
Get tested. Know your status. Protect your loved ones.
Let’s unite to increase awareness, advocate for early screening, and support individuals and families affected by hepatitis.
At First Rivers Hospital we offer comprehensive lab testing, specialist consultations, and compassionate support for patients and families.
You are not alone. Your health matters. Your story matters.

World Brain Day: Brain Health for All Ages 🧠
Today, July 22, is World Brain Day.
Behind every memory, every conversation, every step you take, is your brain. It’s with you from your first breath to your last. It helps you learn, feel, heal, and connect.
Yet brain health is something we often think about only when something feels wrong.
This year’s theme is "Brain Health for All Ages", a reminder that caring for your mind matters at every stage of life.
How we can care for our brains, starting today:
1. Nourish it: Fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts, and water give your brain the fuel it needs.
2. Move it: A 30 minute walk, dancing, or any activity increases blood flow and supports brain function.
3. Rest it: 7 to 8 hours of sleep helps your brain clear waste and strengthen memory.
4. Challenge it: Read, learn, and stay socially connected. An active mind builds resilience.
5. Check it: High blood pressure, diabetes, and stress increase the risk of stroke and cognitive decline. Regular checks make a difference.
Brain conditions don’t discriminate by age.
Students can experience migraines.
Adults can face stroke.
Parents and grandparents can experience memory changes.
If you notice persistent headaches, dizziness, memory lapses, numbness, or seizures, speaking with a doctor early can help.
At First Rivers Hospital, our neurologist is here to provide guidance on brain and nervous system health, and to support you with information and care.
This World Brain Day, let’s break the silence around brain health.
Let’s check in with ourselves.
Let’s check in with the people we love.
Because a healthy mind supports a healthy life.

Hepatitis doesn’t always show symptoms early.
Knowing how it spreads and that it can be prevented makes all the difference.
Testing, treatment, and vaccination are key.
Physician care is available for questions and monitoring.
A fever is the body’s way of fighting infection.
It’s not the fever itself that’s dangerous, it’s the cause and how long it lasts.
Watch. Comfort. Stay calm.
For questions about your child’s symptoms, pediatric support is available.
Pneumonia is caused by bacteria or viruses.
Cold drinks don’t cause it.
Cold weather and a weak immune system can increase risk.

Quick reminder: persistent coughs shouldn’t be ignored.
Could be TB, asthma, or an infection.
First Rivers Hospital is open if you need to get checked.
Take care of your lungs.

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE & ILLICIT TRAFFICKING
June 26, 2026 | From all of us at First Rivers Hospital
One choice can steal a lifetime.
A student’s future. A father’s presence. A family’s peace.
Today is International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Drugs don’t have lives. People do. And someone’s life is being ruined right now.
WHY THIS MATTERS
1. It starts young. Over 60% of people who struggle with drugs first try before age 18. “Just once” becomes “I can’t stop”.
2. It destroys more than the user. Families break. Jobs are lost. Communities suffer. Trafficking fuels crime, violence, and terrorism.
3. Addiction is a disease, not a moral failure. The brain changes. Willpower alone isn’t enough. Help + treatment work.
WHO PAYS THE PRICE
Teens chasing “hype” at parties. Graduates stressed about jobs. Mothers self-medicating pain. Children born dependent because of trafficked substances.
If you’ve ever said “not my child,” remember: dealers don’t ask for CVs.
CAN YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE? YES, IF YOU:
1. Know the signs: Sudden mood swings, secrecy, dropping grades, new “friends”, money missing at home.
2. Talk early: Ask. Listen. No lectures. “I’m scared for you” beats “You’re a disappointment.”
3. Choose help over shame: At First Rivers Hospital, our doctors, nurses, and counselors treat addiction with dignity. Recovery is possible.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Drugs promise escape but deliver prison. Trafficking promises money but destroys nations.
