Messi accused of racism after declining selfie with benin player during farewell match.
According to Goal.com, Messi's refusal to take a selfie with a Benin player after the match has sparked controversy, with some social media users accusing him of racism.
On Wednesday morning, Argentina defeated Benin 3-0 at the Monumental Stadium. After the final whistle, Messi greeted the Benin players, wanting to savor his final moments in national team colors. An enthusiastic Benin player appeared to ask Messi to take a selfie with him, but the 39-year-old declined and walked away.
Throughout the match, Messi showed no disrespect toward the Benin players. The game was briefly paused in the 10th minute as fans paid tribute to Messi with a warm ovation; Messi also embraced and greeted the players.
Some social media users sharply criticized the incident, calling Messi's actions "lacking humility" and suggesting he could have taken a few seconds to pose with the Benin player, considering the significance of his final friendly match.

Liverpool and arsenal target mora 'could fit in with any team', says mexico boss marquez.
Reported Liverpool and Arsenal target Gilberto Mora "could fit in with any team", believes his Mexico head coach Rafael Marquez.
Mora is likely to make a big-money move – with a Liga MX record fee of $50m (£37m) mentioned in reports – to a European club after he turns 18 later this month.
The Club Tijuana winger scored his first senior international goal during Mexico's recent 1-1 draw with Colombia, after making headlines at El Tri's home World Cup this summer.
When he came off the bench in Mexico's tournament-opening win over South Africa, at the age of 17 years and 240 days, he became the youngest player to represent a host nation at a World Cup.
Mora also became the sixth-youngest World Cup debutant overall, with Northern Ireland's Norman Whiteside, Cameroon duo Samuel Eto'o and Salomon Olembe, Nigeria's Femi Opabunmi and Brazil icon Pele the only players to appear at the tournament while younger.

Why pep guardiola is returning to man city for the first time since guilty verdict.
Manchester City and Pep Guardiola parted ways in the summer but the manager will be back at the Etihad Stadium this month
Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hasn't been back to watch his old employers since leaving at the end of the 2025/26 season. Now, though, he plans to return for the first time since an independent commission found the club guilty on all charges of breaking Premier League financial rules and most charges of a failure to cooperate with the investigation.
The charges relate to the 2009-18 period, with Guardiola in the dugout for the last two of those nine years. City have already launched an appeal and continue to protest their innocence but their old boss is now set to return to the Etihad Stadium in what has been described as a show of solidarity.
The eight-time Premier League champions will have the Catalan in the stands next Wednesday for a Champions League meeting with reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain. The Mail reports that he will be joined there by board members including chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.
It comes after the Catalan coach sent a clear message on social media, writing: "I want every single Man City fan to know I am here; more than ever. I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran [Soriano] the players, staff, Enzo [Maresca] and you, our unique supporters. Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all."

Guardiola won one league title in the two seasons he was in charge between 2009-18, leading City to a league record 100 points in the 2017/18 campaign. He later added five more league titles and several other trophies, securing a momentous Treble in 2022/23.
City finished second behind Arsenal in his final season and he stepped down ahead of the final game of the campaign. His successor Enzo Maresca is back in Manchester after previously serving on Guardiola's coaching staff and his team sits top of the table with maximum points from five games.

Premier League talking points: Man city in spotlight with trip to liverpool, man utd and spurs desperate for win and viktor gyokeres' arsenal chance.
Can Gyokeres step up and save his stalling Arsenal career?
Arsenal vs Leeds - Saturday, 12.30pm kick-off
For the first five Premier League games of the season, Mikel Arteta named the same Arsenal front four in every single one. But now he's set to be forced into changes.
Hamstring injuries to Kai Havertz and Christos Tzolis mean the centre-forward and left-wing positions are likely to change over the next few weeks, at the very least.
Arsenal's squad strength allows Eberechi Eze to come in as a left-wing option. It's not a bad option. But how will Viktor Gyokeres fare as he prepares to replace Havertz?
It's been a frustrating start to the season for the Swedish forward, who has yet to score in his five appearances in all competitions so far this term. He's started only two, and he's managed just one shot in his 192 minutes so far.
