What observations can be made?

Clement Isong was the indigent of Akwa Ibom.

And he held two of the most consequential positions in Nigeria's early post-independence history.

He was the second Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the man who helped shape Nigeria's monetary policy in its formative years.

Then he became the first civilian governor of the old Cross River State, the same state that would later be split to create Akwa Ibom.

He helped govern the territory that would become his people's homeland, before that homeland had a name of its own.

His face is on the ₦1000 note.

Akwa Ibom has produced the first commissioned soldier (WA1), the first Catholic Cardinal in English-speaking West Africa, the first local government in British West Africa, and the second Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Every pillar of modern Nigeria has Akwa Ibom fingerprints on it.
