Another Certificate Added to the Teacher Eddy Toolbox!
I thought about gifting myself a birthday gift in July, I decided to register for this training. The training was worth every time spent learning and the fee paid for it.
I recently completed a Tech Tools Training for Educators course, and I’m really excited about it.
As an online teacher, I’ve come to understand that teaching Maths online is not just about knowing Maths. It is also about knowing how to use technology to make learning interactive, engaging and effective.
From virtual classrooms to interactive activities, assessments, presentations and other digital tools, there are so many ways technology can improve the learning experience.
And as a teacher, I don't want to just stick to what I already know.
I want to keep learning.
I want to keep improving.
I want to keep finding better ways to teach.
This certificate represents more than completing another course.
It represents my commitment to becoming a better virtual Maths teacher for my learners.
The learning continues!

From Fear to Confidence: Zara’s Maths Journey
“I’m just not a Maths person.” That was the sentence Zara had quietly started believing about herself.
Whenever she got a Maths question wrong, she felt frustrated. Whenever a new topic was introduced, she worried she would not understand it. And whenever Maths class was approaching, she wished she could somehow avoid it.
Then Zara transferred to a new school, everything was already unfamiliar. New teachers. New classmates. A new environment, but there was one thing she feared most : Maths.
Zara expected the same struggle she had always experienced. She expected to sit quietly, hope she understood the lesson and feel embarrassed whenever she got an answer wrong.
Then her new teacher introduced the class to their new Maths teacher. At first, Zara was sceptical But something about the lessons felt different.
The explanations were simple. Difficult concepts were broken down into small, manageable steps. Zara was encouraged to ask questions, try again and take her time.
There was no shouting when she made a mistake.
No making her feel embarrassed. Instead, her teacher would calmly remind “You can do this. Just take it one step at a time.”
And Zara started to believe it.With consistent practice, patience and encouragement, the things that once seemed impossible slowly began to make sense.
She started getting answers right.
Then she started raising her hand.
Then she started helping other pupils.
But the biggest change was not in her Maths.
It was in her confidence.
Zara stopped seeing mistakes as proof that she was bad at Maths. She began to understand that mistakes were simply part of learning.
By the end of the term, the girl who once dreaded Maths was walking into Maths class with a smile.
She was no longer saying, “I’m not a Maths person.”
She was saying, “Let me try.”annd that small change made all the difference.
Zara did not suddenly become a Maths genius.
She simply had the right support, the right encouragement and someone who believed in her even when she did not believe in herself.
Sometimes, that is all a child needs. Love. Support. Consistent practice. Patience, and a teacher who knows how to make Maths feel possible.
That is the difference I strive to make at Your Virtual Maths Teacher.
Because every child can learn Maths. Always remember that, sometimes, they just need someone to help them believe they can.

DAY 6. ➗ DIVIDING INTEGERS
Today we're learning how to divide integers, and here's the great news:
The sign rules for division are exactly the same as multiplication which was the previous post.
Remember:
Same signs → POSITIVE (+)
Different signs → NEGATIVE (−)
Let's see it.
Positive ÷ Positive
(+20) ÷ (+4) = +5
Same signs → positive.
Negative ÷ Negative
(−20) ÷ (−4) = +5
Same signs → positive.
Positive ÷ Negative
(+20) ÷ (−4) = −5
Different signs → negative.
Negative ÷ Positive
(−20) ÷ (+4) = −5
Different signs → negative.
Always remember, multiplication and division follow the same sign rule.
If you've followed all 6 days, congratulations!
You didn't just memorise rules, you have built your understanding step by step.
Keep learning. Keep practising. Keep making Maths make sense.

DAY 5 — ✖ MULTIPLYING INTEGERS
We've mastered addition and subtraction, now let's tackle multiplication of integers.
The good news is that for multiplication, the sign rules are actually very simple.
THE SIGN RULE
Same signs → POSITIVE (+)
Different signs → NEGATIVE (−)
Let's break it down.
Positive × Positive
(+4) × (+3) = +12
Same signs → positive.
Negative × Negative
(−4) × (−3) = +12
Same signs → positive.
Positive × Negative
(+4) × (−3) = −12
Different signs → negative.
Negative × Positive
(−4) × (+3) = −12
Different signs → negative.
Let's practise!
1. −6 × −2 = ?
2. 7 × −4 = ?
3. −8 × 3 = ?
4. −9 × −5 = ?
Don't forget:
SAME SIGNS = POSITIVE
DIFFERENT SIGNS = NEGATIVE

DAY 4 — ➖ SUBTRACTING INTEGERS
Adding integers made sense once we understood the process, subtraction can be a little confusing to learners sometimes but here's a simple strategy to always help you subtraction properly.
The strategy is simply to turn the subtraction into addition by applying this rule.
The rule is:
COPY → CHANGE → CHANGE
Copy the first number.
Change subtraction to its inverse : to addition.
Change the sign of the second number to its inverse.
Now let's see how it works.
Example 1:
7 − (-3)
COPY 7
CHANGE − to +
CHANGE -3 to +3
So:
7 + (+3) = 10
Did you notice that Subtracting a negative finally became adding a positive.
Another example:
−5 − (4)
COPY -5
CHANGE − to +
CHANGE +4 to −4
Therefore:
−5 + (−4) = −9
The important idea is, don't try to memorise lots of separate subtraction rules.
Instead use : COPY → CHANGE → CHANGE , then use your addition rules.
